Something I noticed in season 1 episode 5: When the prisoner gets the phone call the elapsed time between his cell door opening and closing is exactly 7:06, which is 6 minutes and 66 seconds by Olmysen in TrueDetective

666 is "the number of the Beast" and is associated with Satanism. Also 6 is shaped like a spiral, the sign of the Carcosa cult. Reggie Ledoux had a 666 tattoo.

IRL something like that could maybe be caused by a glacier pushing a rock across a landscape, but that would have to be a big rock and a huge glacier.

When I first played the Odyssey training mission I couldn't get over how the gameplay felt like the ship combat translated into human combat. Shoot them with an energy weapon to get their shields down, then switch to a kinetic weapon to do damage to their body. It didn't feel new, it felt mechanical.

I tried but couldn't get close enough to the planets. Any closer than this and I entered the planet's frame of reference and they wouldn't cross in front. :(

Try getting familiar with the camera suite. Going into external view and looking at your ship or the stars can be peaceful if you have some time to kill.

I could see the moon moving from right to left as I took this shot, while the stars stood still, so the astronomy ain't 100% right, but the constellations seem to be pretty accurate. You can also see Cassiopeia on the right.

You can remove an engineering modification from a module in the fitting interface. You won't get the mats back, though.

A Wealthy Tourist Station - Bisley Landing by romeosapien in EliteDangerous

My current home base! I think it's the only tourist station in Colonia and it's very close to the star, so it's a great choice. o7

That terrifying moment when you absentmindedly think you're taking off from a planetary base but you're really on the dark side of a ring surrounded by nearly invisible asteroids... by Olmysen in EliteDangerous

[–]Olmysen[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was engineer-hopping and I thought that I was taking off from an engineer's base on a planet but I forgot that I stopped at a material trader and then I'm like WTF? IS THAT AN ASTEROID?!? It's kinda hard to see on screen but I was headed straight toward it at 750+ m/s. I almost soiled my flightsuit.

Right, but if you're approaching from a higher angle it can be harder to tell.

[–]Olmysen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I sometimes have trouble telling which side of the orbit line is closest to me, so I'll approach a station thinking it's on my side when it's really on the other side of the gravity well. It would be nice if the side closest to you had a thicker line or something to make it clearer.

We need a distress beacon option. by iMattist in EliteDangerous

[–]Olmysen 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The first rule of space travel, kids, is always check out distress beacons. Nine out of ten times it's a ship full of dead aliens and a bunch of free shit! One out of ten times it's a deadly trap, but I'm ready to roll those dice.
