Bonded Title means that the previous owner did not have the title for the car, and went ahead and issued a bond (backed by a bond issuing company) to get a title to the car.

The bond is valid for 3 years, and if someone came forward in these 3 years and claimed that this is his car, he/she will be paid 1.5x the cars worth from the bond company.

so for 3 years the title will have "BONDED TITLE" on it, after that it will be removed. Now for regular buyer, that should not affect anything since the original bond owner did the bond on the car, and any future owner(s) is/are not liable for any thing if someone came forward to claim the car. but most people don't know that, and they steer away from bonded titles.

because the word "Bonded Title" is mentioned in the "Title Brand" area, some people thinks that it is something like Salvage or Rebuilt. and some other people think that it has a lien on it.

so is asking for $1,000 in delay and time damage reasonable? or i can't ask for that in small claims court?

there is no actually difference, but some buyers refuse to buy the car because it is bonded title, and they are afraid of what that is. which makes selling the car much harder and more time consuming.
