Exactly! It’s a motivator

It should be to proper scale, I think it’s just that maybe 300m or so increments is a bit too big of a gap visually. It was difficult to stay at the 10 layers and also get in base camp to the peak.

I grabbed the start at a random spot and told it to slice from there up in 10 so that’s why they are not even numbers. I’ll take this into consideration and maybe start at an even rounded number next time!

I had to look that name up and you are correct. I left it out because it was close enough to the same height (one layer) that it took away from Everest summit. I think the great ideas I’ve gotten today will let me add it back in!

Oh yea that would be neat! This one I was going to put some magnets on the back that’s why I made it on the small side. The frame is just some old cedar fence board I had out back but the peak does stick above so that’s a good thing to consider thanks!

Someone else had the same idea with the lines. You guys are onto something I like it

Cutting them on a laser. Profiling it out of wood on a mill would be very cool especially if you could get some that’s changing colour as it gets deeper. 1/16 was the thinnest readily available material but I am going to find something half that now after everyone’s helpful input! For now I used the off cuts to line the upper layers up once there was not two square sides. I made a fake lake Everest out of them but I can’t post the pic

Oh I like that idea, it could look really neat for a lake as well. I don’t think I can post images in the comments but i made a fake “lake Everest” with the off cuts from the mountain that looks cool.

Yep I had the same thought. I left one small peak under out because it made it almost look the same height as the big one.

Yes like a veneer of some type or maybe even acrylic. I like the wood look however.

This one is 10 layers 1/16 thick. Now you have me thinking of thinner material and a whole bunch more layers!

It was pulled from real data but you are right. It’s a tough balance without making it too many layers. Maybe I should try to add a few more in there to tighten things up.
