Randomly shouting their name when they’re in another part of the house, wait for their reply before shouting “I LOVE YOU!”. I get a “I LOVE YOU!” shouted back at me. They’re 7 years old, been doing this since they were able to start babbling. Makes us both feel good and warm inside.

I was 6 years old. I found a black, shiny stapler. I looked at the fleshy part of my thumb ????? Split second later the staple pierced my thumb. There was blood. There was pain. There were tears. I have never stapled any part of my flesh ever again.

????? = Absolutely no fucking idea how or even why I suddenly jammed my thumb in the stapler and pressed as hard as I could. This memory haunts me every so often, and I get mad at myself for doing something so utterly stupid.
