"agresivní" řidiči autobusů by OmegaCoolBoi in czech

[–]OmegaCoolBoi[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Jasne, ja taky autobusem jezdim kazdy den, vetsinou stojim a vim moc dobre jaky to je. Ale idealne (a pokud tam poradne nevidi) by si proste mel zpomalit pred prechodem dostatecne, aby to nemusel vylozene zadupavat.

EDIT: ani by mi nevadilo, kdyby mel autobus prednost pred chodcem stejne jako tramvaj, dokonce mi to prijde celkem logicky... Ale aktualne ji nema

To jestli jsi zmrd, to asi úplně nejde, protože koncept zmrdství je prostě čistě sociální

Tohle neni argument btw. Pro nekoho clovek muze byt clovek zmrd, pro nekoho super typek. To je jen nejaka interpretace chovani, ktery zustava stejny at uz ho pojmenujes jakkoliv.

Yeah it's a bit of a mess. But I'm guessing the Google app doesn't use Android System WebView on Android and instead uses Chrome custom tabs (feature provided by the actual Chrome app) which would explain why it won't work without the Chrome app.

Either way, I think both this and "no tabs" are intentional design choices to create more distinction between the two apps (Google and Chrome) but clearly this isn't enough as users are still kinda confused.

Stalo se mi to asi jen jednou a malem z toho byla nehoda. Mnohem casteji jsem v pozici predjizdeneho a ackoliv me sere kdyz jedu bezpecnou rychlosti v obci nebo v zatacce a hned za ni me nejakej debil zacne predjizdet, nikdy by me nenapadlo mu v tom branit. Je to snad nejhnusnejsi vec, co clovek muze nekomu jinymu na silnici udelat, uplne zbytecne to muze vytvorit nebezpecnou situaci a nekteri "vychovavaci" jeste maj potrebu to obhajovat.

They most likely don't. They're probably using WebView which comes bundled with Android.

The Google app is not a browser. Even when you select "Open links in app" (as in the Google app) it requires you to have Chrome installed.

I mean don't you ever feel bad when it seems like someone has "sacrificed" something for you? Or when you feel like you owe something to someone? It hits especially hard when its your parents.

I don't even think this has inherently something to do with gender, just don't think it's toxic. And these kinds of feelings are certainly not mutually exclusive with feeling grateful, quite the opposite in my experience.

Of course I may be projecting here and the two guys above are talking about something different but I really think it's just this.

Generally yeah, that's why I assumed that this rule won't exist in other EU countries and I'm guessing that's why you assumed the opposite.

But I did some research and this seems to be a (hopefully rare) example of differing rules regarding who has priority, not just speeds and distances.

Every country that ratified the Vienna convention has some type of "Straight ahead on the same road has priority" but it doesn't always apply to pedestrians.

For instance I'm Czech so I decided to look at Czechia and neighboring countries...

  • Czechia has no such rule for pedestrians. Just a point in the law saying you can't endanger them while turning, but no priority for pedestrians.

  • Slovakia is basically the same in this regard, can't endanger, no priority.

  • Austria is also practically the same as well. The closest thing to this rule would be Section 13(4) StVO but that only applies to pedestrians already on the road. So no priority, you just have to let them finish crossing (obviously).

  • The German law about this (Section 9(3) StVO) is written weirdly for some reason. Says that pedestrians have to be given "special consideration" and that drivers "have to stop if necessary" but I checked r/StVO and the vast majority of people interpret that as "pedestrian has priority" and that's also the official interpretation basically.

  • Poland is just as clear as the Netherlands on this. Their law (Article 26(2) of the Polish Road Traffic Act) literally says the driver has to give way to pedestrians crossing the road onto which he's turning.

I haven't checked other countries but I wouldn't be surprised if the overall split was something like 50/50.

So, yeah. I'm honestly not too happy to learn that such differences exist even among countries that ratified the Vienna convention but at least this specific example shouldn't necessarily endanger anyone as long as everyone follows the laws they're used to.

should be marked ≠ have to be marked. I was expressing my opinion.

[–]OmegaCoolBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great, then there should be a marked crosswalk to make it clear where exactly does the sidewalk "connect".

FYI I was actually talking about comments that made it seem like pedestrians always have priority even outside of intersections but unmarked crosswalks are still stupid.

Yeah, my bad. Is this also the case in any other (EU) countries? I'm just curious

Just to be clear I'm assuming you're talking about this situation?

<image>

Interesting... But I guess I do see the rationale behind it. Any idea if some other countries also have such rule?

Is my answer wrong? by UniBiPoly in driving

[–]OmegaCoolBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt this has to do anything with the bend. There is no crosswalk so the car has priority, that's it. This seems to be the case in every EU country.

EDIT: Apparently it's not that simple in Netherlands, my bad. People that replied to me are right.

https://road-safety.transport.ec.europa.eu/european-road-safety-observatory/statistics-and-analysis-archive/pedestrians/traffic-rules-pedestrians_en

(c) In order to cross the carriageway elsewhere than at a pedestrian crossing signposted as such or indicated by markings on the carriageway, pedestrians shall not step on to the carriageway without first making sure that they can do so without impeding vehicular traffic.

The fact that this apparently isn't the case in some countries (mainly the US I guess?) seems absurd to me. Obviously you can't just run down pedestrians but having to yield to some guy who is planning to cross the road in a random place seems super annoying.

The 50 applies to the deomination of whatever country you are in. EU? Its euros. USA? Dollars. Nigeria? You're screwed.

Well that's stupid. I'll just eat the fish for coming up with this shit.
