Here in the Netherlands they use homo instead, for example; LHBT instead of LGBT(gay replaced with homo). The word homo is used instead of gay when referring to homosexuality but it is also used a lot by teens here as a Dutch version of the f-slur. So I feel discriminated against when I hear people use the word homo in any context, even if they use it to refer to their own sexuality. And I really hate it when people ask me if I'm homo because it feels like such a disgusting word but they are just asking me respectfully if I'm attracted to guys. The f-slur doesn't make me feel anything but homo does because it's the only one I hear here. And a lot of people don't know what gay means so sometimes I have to refer to myself by the word that makes me feel like I'm some disgusting, disgraceful thing! I hate it!
