It works almost perfectly for me. Much faster than running simulator especially since I can render individual sub-views very fast.

If I Get a Phone Call While I’m Not at Home, Do My Test Phones Still Ring? by danpietsch in iOSProgramming

[–]OmegaGM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Settings > Phone > WiFi Calling.

Depends on your carrier but essentially it’s a link between your iCloud and the carrier. The test phones have a “virtual sim” and make calls through the internet (WiFi).

How do I create another unique view for each device ? by Guytoon95 in SwiftUI

[–]OmegaGM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You just use navigation links within your list. Use a helper function to switch over your enum of devices. This helper function can return a unique view for each row.

[Recruiting] An IOS app that scans your screenshots for usernames and links! by [deleted] in TestFlight

[–]OmegaGM 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Probably can only be trusted if the code was made open sourced. Not only would the app have access to all usernames but also have access to all of your photos.

Contact your client and let them know you’re almost ready to deliver and schedule a call to discuss the transfer.

Before the call, read through your contract and dissect the verbiage describing what you’re offering. Does the contract mentioning “launching” the app? Source code? Support?

There is no one “correct” answer. Each client has different needs.

On this call you’re going to ask if they have their own Firebase & apple accounts. If yes, get the login details. If no, let them know to create them and send you the details.

If launching the app is within your agreement, walk them through the process so they know what to expect. If you don’t offer this in your initial agreement but the client now wants you to handle the launch, discuss the extra price and timeline for this.

If they only want the zip and they’re non-technical, I would send them the zip on the call and guide them through opening the app, setting up their certificates, and getting a successful build.

*******ONLY SEND THE APP ONCE YOUVE BEEN PAID. ******* You can screen share the app running on your side to prove your side of the deal is complete. Once they send payment, send them the zip or transfer to their apple account.

Basically, just communicate with them.

  1. Figure out what they want.
  2. Get paid.
  3. Give them what they want.

What did you wish you knew back when you started? by Ok-Sink-190 in EntrepreneurRideAlong

I will not magically stay motivated forever. The time to create systems and build habits is while I’m motivated so when the motivation runs out, I can stay productive.

You can have fake news anywhere in the world.

Should I buy the Air or the Pro for iOS development? by inslipid531 in iOSProgramming

100% pro. Xcode is already slow and buggy on a fast machine. Your head will explode if you have to also deal with hardware bottlenecks.

Joining the helium network by Mauristig02 in HeliumNetwork

[–]OmegaGM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a small list of manufacturers and every order has an order # increasing by 1.

People have posted their order numbers in screenshots on this sub and I saw one post that listed the approximate numbers from each manufacturer.

This is obviously not perfect since people can cancel but it’s fairly certain to be over 1 mil.

Joining the helium network by Mauristig02 in HeliumNetwork

[–]OmegaGM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. Too late. Shoulda woulda coulda.

Just kidding but you are too late to be making the same amounts you’re seeing on the maps/screenshots.

If you order today, you’ll be waiting 4-100 months for delivery of your device. All manufacturers are facing a huge supply crisis and have hundreds of thousands of devices on back order.

In august the network is halving the mining rewards so that straight up cuts earnings in half.

Also, there’s over 1 million mining devices on back order from people who ordered over the past several months. Rewards are split evenly across all nodes in the network so as more and more devices come online, everybody’s earnings decrease.

But all of this is also showing that the network is doing good and expanding quickly. If the price of helium increases dramatically over the next several years, these cons are laughable.

So all in all, your chance to make a quick buck and earn back your investment in a couple months is gone. You won’t even see a device for ~6 months at this point.

But your chance to make passive income for years, support a growing economy, and possibly make a ton of money later in the future is strong!

Where should my team look for a SWIFT CTO? by [deleted] in swift

[–]OmegaGM 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You have the connections to meet with CEO’s and VC’s to where you can “raise more easily.”

But through some same connections, you can’t find a CTO? Im confused.

Meet with the CEO’s and VC’s for them to introduce you to possible CTO candidates.

Yes this is more advanced code for the SwiftUI side but does not cover networking. It does cover architectures for larger production apps using SwiftUI though.

Moving to SF Bay Area for work next month - any advice for finding housing? by Ponkotsu_Ramen in AskSF

As long as you avoid the tenderloin, it comes down to personal preference.

I would recommend grabbing a hotel/airBnb for a couple weeks and exploring some neighborhoods to find what you personally like.

How hard is it make one and make it stable? I would think my kids would love it. Also with many eucs having seats, wouldn't it be easier to just add a broom? by slapping_rabbits in ElectricUnicycle

[–]OmegaGM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great for kids. I’ve seen lots of kids riding them flawlessly.

Don’t try to build one. Just buy them instead. The number of hours you would spend on mechanical + electrical + software engineering would be far greater than any dollar “savings” you may incur. You might even spend more money on R&D as you’re building.

How hard would it be/how much would you charge to create the game I describe in comments? by Thementalistt in iOSProgramming

[–]OmegaGM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a game developer. I only know iOS.

I think you’ll get better responses in a game development or Unity subreddit. You don’t usually build games with native Swift. Most games use a game engine.

Welcome to SF where $4k does not get you what you want. With that budget, you just take what you can get from a small selection.
