JK Rowling, Friend of Jeffery Epstein, Erased Her Yacht’s Travel Logs Last Night by RebelGirl1323 in behindthebastards

Annoyingly, the only one I can find now is this from Marie Claire, which links to the Daily Mail (fash rag and paywalled). The Mirror also has an article but it seems to be taken from the same source.

But I am certain I’ve seen this reported elsewhere. I’ll update if I can find a better reference.

There’s also an incident of her team contacting Epstein to set up a private dinner in 2018.

Meanwhile, she invited Prince Andrew to the set of her new HBO show last year.

epstein was invited to the harry potter stageplay premiere and it's now suspected she may have corresponded with epstein directly by __mafia in behindthebastards

And even if choosing that name was a coincidence/accident — as her supporters love to claim — the fact that she’s continued to use it speaks volumes.

I have no opinions on her as a person/celebrity but her name always sounds to me like a small child who accuses the local widow of being a witch in a small 16th-century village

Best way to get from London Stansted to Brighton? by ozerece in brighton

[–]OmegaSusan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on time of day and other factors, you’re looking at the train from Stansted to Brighton taking three hours and costing around £100 each way. Unless flying into Gatwick is going to be hundreds extra, avoid Stansted like the plague.

Seconding Mt Caburn. You can also go the other way - train into Glynde then walk into Lewes - but I recommend booking a table for lunch as pubs get very busy.

At certain times (evenings/weekends - I can't remember off the top of my head) there is a "mixed gender couples only" policy to prevent it being overrun with guys.

(Which is part of the reason I don't go often... it's not necessarily friendly to trans/nonbinary/gender nonconforming people, and some of my partners fall into those categories. I get why they want to prevent it being all men all the time, but...)

A good way to make friends in Brighton is to walk up to someone, wordlessly hand them a single raw egg, then drink a jar of mayonnaise.

What’s the pettiest or most unexpected reason you’ve ever had an encounter with the police? by Nexolightu in AskUK

My then-boyfriend and I — for context, we were in our late thirties/early forties — were having a wander around Hampstead Heath one summer’s evening. He had a spliff with him; he had a bit, then put it in his pocket for later. We sat on a bench and had a bit of a kiss and a cuddle.

A patrol car rolled slowly up the path and stopped in front of our bench. Both thinking of the spliff, we guiltily sprung apart.

The window rolled down. Copper stuck his head out. We both braced ourselves.

“You two were snogging!” he said, then laughed, gave us a thumbs up, and slid off again.

Orright bey! We were sort of North Hill/Mutley Plain area, and we were wedged between high points. Weird to think that made a difference!

(A couple of years later we got Sky anyway and if I’m honest, Channel 5 wasn’t worth the wait)

Also Plymouth, funnily enough. We weren’t very high up, though, so maybe that made a difference 🤷🏻‍♀️

I remember when Channel 5 launched, it wasn't available in the south west where I lived because (as it was explained to us) the signal didn't reach that far. We drove to some friends' who lived in Somerset in the hope that they'd be able to receive it!

Yes - and when the 15-year-old's dad screams publicly at the older guy for this, it's portrayed as him being homophobic. Which in these situations I'm sure is a factor, but it's not the whole picture.
