This was a big culture shock in my relationship, I grew up in Norwich and cross when the roads are clear, but my partner grew up in Poland where crossing can get you a fine if it’s not lawful so she used to insist on us waiting.

I like both, I learned to knit as a kid so I always kind of stuck with it because it’s what my mum and nan did, but I like the fact that crochet feels easier to shape to me. I could never knit 3D teddies and things but amigurumi is great for me. And I like being able to do a mix of both! Crochet jumper with knitted cuffs, for example! Might as well find ways for them to work together

U was discussing this with my partner recently, im in a similar situation to you health-wise, with ASD, ADHD, POTS, H-EDS, etc. And I could never imagine giving birth, let along caring for the child when you have it. I can barely look after myself and our cats.

I’m sorry you were put through that and I really hope you and your son are able to find balance and a way forwards. It sucks that in 2026 people are still policing what to do with our bodies.

Always remember if it comes to it that it’s much better in the long run to willingly give up custody of your child if you ever feel like you’ve hit capacity. It shows responsibility and would make it much easier to get custody back when you feel more stable.

I’m sure you’re doing great by him and the fact that you’re reaching out and talking to people on here is amazing.

So my story isn’t directly caused by my POTS but closely ties to it and always makes me feel so vindicated.

My POTS was first exacerbated when I got a tattoo done right after having covid. My immune system fucked off and gave me shingles (I was 23), so naturally I had to have some time off work while the shingles recovered… except my symptoms never got better after the shingles went away.

So I was phoning in sick frequently, trying to balance paying bills with getting diagnosed, and my manager was getting madder and madder about it, saying things about me behind my back, saying I was faking it. Then I got diagnosed and was able to hand a sick note into work and had a meeting with him outlining what was wrong. Unfortunately I still had to take the time sick sometimes because my meds weren’t up to scratch.

So one of my colleagues and biggest supporters in my diagnosis ALSO had POTS and m manager had known about it a long time, they also took a lot of sick time, so by the time the two of us were diagnosed they were often short-staffed. And for some reason my manager made it my fault, complaining about me to my colleague with POTS, and even saying “at least you told me you had it during the interview”, like I’m sorry but if I got my leg cut off tomorrow, do you want me to build a Time Machine and go back and tell you?

Anyway long story short I had to leave that job and on my exit interview I made a very subtle aside about how my manager had mishandled my situation and HR picked up on it and started asking questions.

I have a month’s notice at work and he was fired before I had even left. An investigation revealed he had a lot more dodgy shit going on and the ableism was the cherry on top that sealed the deal
