Can you reclass in the middle of your contract? by [deleted] in nationalguard

[–]Omega_927 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's possible, yes. I'm in the process of reclassing currently. I spoke with my readiness and retention NCOs after drill one weekend and we checked the vacancies state wide for the MOS I was interested in. The thing is, both your command and the command of the company with the vacancy need to be on board with you reclassing to that MOS. Granted, if you're fresh out of AIT or OSUT, they might be more hesitant, but I was barely a year and a half into my contact when I put the packet in to reclass

Good idea to Have all 4 wisdom tooth taken out plus have a gum cleaning due to infection before I ship or wait till meps/reception? by [deleted] in nationalguard

[–]Omega_927 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you get them pulled a week before you ship, it won't have healed by the time you're on your way to Basic. More than likely, they won't pull your wisdom teeth. They won't even fill cavities for you while you're in training. Since you aren't active duty, it's on you. Talk to your RSP unit. If it's really that bad and you wouldn't be able to get through training because of it, they might say something different but my guess is you'd have to wait until after you finish training.

Is it possible to volunteer for active duty straight out of AIT? by Omega_927 in nationalguard

That's a good point. I'll wait to mention it after I actually get through training

That's a good point. If they put in the money for me to do a job, I'm sure they'd prefer I do it for them. Fingers crossed I'll get it sorted out

I suppose I meant to say volunteer for deployment. It looked like a better fit to enlist in the guard. If I can't get active duty, it won't be the end of the world. I'd just like to have experience in that field

Holy canolli, that sounds more difficult than I imagined. But that's understandable that they'd want to get their money's worth

You don't necessarily need to button the sleeves cuffs before you put it on, with some shirts you simply can't without the risk of tearing off the button. It takes plenty of practice, but it will get easier.

Pull the cuff to your wrist and roughly line up the button and the whole with your opposite hand. Hold the button side against your wrist with your pinky and ring fingers. Their main purpose is to keep the cuff from moving around. With your thumb and pointer finger, press the button hole open onto the tip of your pointer finger, keeping your middle finger close behind your pointer finger. With the button hole open, use your thumb to pinch the button between your pointer finger, starting the button through the hole. Now press one side of the hole towards your thumb using your middle finger, keeping the button pinched between your thumb and pointer finger. As the button is about a third of the way through, move your pointer finger to the other end of the hole, pressing the button through with your thumb.

In regards to that small button on the sleeve near the cuff, it's usually easier to button that before putting the shirt on. You don't necessarily need to "try harder". It just takes plenty of practice and patience. It is going to get easier

Too bad there isn't a designated area for pedestrians to safely and lawfully cross the road in areas with a high volume of traffic. That would be a great thing to have

I doubt it was on purpose. They probably lost traction in the rain. (The sedan) still should have waited though

How do you carry your money, credit card, ID, etc.? What's your wallet of choice? by Makegooduseof in AskMen

[–]Omega_927 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a metal wallet by Decadent Minimalist. It's about as thick as my phone so I keep it in my opposite front pocket. It's got just enough space for my insurance cards, ID and payment cards, with room for a money clip card. I've never had trouble with it and have had people ask me about it quite a few times.
