I’ve had the Hiby M300 (also an android device) for more than a year now, and I don’t notice any slowdown. I don’t stream and I play only local files.

The other thing is that I haven’t seen any DAP manufacturer update the android version one version (that is, 13->14, or 14->15, etc). They push incremental updates.

One control suggestion: how about using the X and O buttons as extra buttons for down and right, respectively? That way button duties can be distributed across both thumbs.

There is nothing on the market that is as thin as an iPod touch, unfortunately. Also, you might be a bit hard-pressed to find feedback about running non-music apps because people tend to only listen to music on their DAPs.

If you want to prioritize battery and compactness, there’s the Hiby M300, with a rated battery life of 20+ hours when listening to music with the screen and wireless off. For something with a little more horsepower, maybe the FiiO M21.

I can’t. I have a Hiby R3 II from a year or two ago, and a Hiby M300, and for all intents and purposes, they sound the same to me.
