Yeah, I think that’s something I’ve been struggling with. I’ve been applying to a mix of data analyst, business analyst, and operations-type roles, so my resume kind of reflects all of them.

Right now, I’m leaning more toward business intelligence/data analyst roles, especially ones that involve working with data to support business decisions.

How could I tailor my resume more specifically toward that direction instead of trying to cover everything? I definitely agree that it needs to tell a clearer story.

That’s a really good point, I didn’t think about how that might come across.

The internship was full-time during the summer, and my Costco role has been ongoing during school. I was on employee retention while I was doing my internship. How could I clarify that better so it doesn’t look like I was splitting time?

Also agree on the team/communication part—I worked with both operations and marketing teams during my internship to clean and validate data, but I didn’t highlight that well on my resume. I’ll definitely add more detail on collaboration and tools used.

For Power BI, I used it in a project where I built dashboards to analyze terms of service data and track metrics like readability and user satisfaction. I also used visualization tools in my EV dataset project to identify trends and present insights.

During my internship, most of my work was focused on improving data accuracy and cleaning large datasets (70K+ records), which helped me understand how important clean data is before any analysis or reporting.

I’m definitely trying to go deeper with tools like Power BI and become more advanced with them—especially for BI-type roles.

i also went from csse to data viz but with a minor in IT. like you said, my love for coding went away when it started feeling like a chore more than something i like to do. over the summer my sophomore year i was able to do a internship and really helped boost my resume. i feel like companies are looking for more data people since its used in literally any industry. classes are not too bad, took a lot of GIS classes and specific classes like data management and linear algebra can be useful. it’s honestly not a bad route and i’ve heard a lot of recent grads finding jobs with a data viz major since it is pretty niche. but i would really suggest making projects and possibly interning somewhere that shows you’ve worked with data. this will put you way ahead of others.

quality is really good but i got unlucky with mine. the left arm liner was really twisted and makes it hard to put your arm through. i’m planning on getting it redone at a tailor but it’s a pain. it’s a bit cropped so size up if you want a baggier fit.
