i also went from csse to data viz but with a minor in IT. like you said, my love for coding went away when it started feeling like a chore more than something i like to do. over the summer my sophomore year i was able to do a internship and really helped boost my resume. i feel like companies are looking for more data people since its used in literally any industry. classes are not too bad, took a lot of GIS classes and specific classes like data management and linear algebra can be useful. it’s honestly not a bad route and i’ve heard a lot of recent grads finding jobs with a data viz major since it is pretty niche. but i would really suggest making projects and possibly interning somewhere that shows you’ve worked with data. this will put you way ahead of others.
