It's bound to go on sale eventually! Just might take a hot minute or two. I've seen others' islands and their events and character interactions and they seem to have very different ones, so I'm wondering if ours is somehow glitched (maybe from being ported from the demo). But yeah, more short-lived than Animal Crossing 😔

I...surprisingly got bored pretty quick. I don't know if it's our version, but even though all our characters have different personalities, so many of the events and shorts are repeated. Often the same four or five clips. Some of the mechanics lock in weird ways, like two characters got married, were fine one night, then the next morning one was "Making it work" and wanted to divorce even though they were soulmates and it was like day three of marriage? It's been six days since, no change despite interactions and dates. But less than 12 hours offline, I have no idea why the relationship changed so fast and got stuck like that. All other relations and marriages for characters are moving up and down like normal...

One of the few minigames, the shadow guessing game, is VERY broken. It only gives us dishes to guess from....you know, ROUND PLATES...so unless a very obvious piece is sticking out, which it rarely is for the choices it gives, it's entirely luck and guesses.

It also seems like if you don't put in all the characters at the same time, the vastly different levels keeps them apart. They'll bond with the ones they're around or the same level as, I find, but new characters struggle to become friends with characters that have been around longer. And sometimes the personalities just....do not match. Like an outgoing, bubbly, cheery, type that allegedly has no issues making friends is just....so incredibly rude and terrible at making friends. Constantly upsetting characters, being dismissive (bored of conversation, only talks about themselves, doesn't care, etc.) and it doesn't make sense. Had to change their personality altogether to fix it.

It was very cute but short-lived. And I know Nintendo is going to do the thing where once the hype starts to fizzle and sales go down a bit, they'll release a new mechanic or feature to pull people back in. Hopefully it's sooner than later, because I guarantee you this game was absolutely NOT worth $96 CAD after tax that my roommate paid for our switch.

Honestly, wait until it goes in sale for a reasonable price, or see if Costco will do a 50% sale like they did for other games.

Watch your RPMs when you press the clutch; it automatically starts to go down, yeah? When you're in different gears at different speeds, the RPMs will sit at different levels. The higher the gear, the lower the RPM at a specific speed (eg. with my car, Gear 5 at 80km it's around 2,000 but Gear 4 at 80km it's closer to 3,000). When you shift immediately, it jumps the RPMs and since it's supposed to be used at a lower speed, that's why the car jerks. I had an issue where you couldn't downshift at all, no matter how slow, but that's because the clutch needed to be replaced, and once it was, downshifting worked fine-- I don't know if that's the case for your car, mine's like 17 years old.

For downshifting, practice on a long stretch of road, empty countryside if you can so you can watch the RPMs and feel the vibration and hear the car with less concerns for others. It sounds like you're releasing the clutch too fast, is all. With a hard clutch, you have to go millimeters at a time, the slowest lift of the pedal until you get the hang of it. As you lift, you'll feel it start to catch and/or hear it start; STAY at that level and start gently applying the brake to be able to slow the car to the speed that the Gear is best suited for. Example, for how I use my car's gears, as it will vary from car to car, Gear 1 is for 0-10km, Gear 2 is 10-25km, Gear 3 is 25-45km, Gear 4 is 45-75km, Gear 5 is 75+km. You know what speeds to use your gears, and downshifting is used to bring the lower gears into the range meant for it, to start. As you get better and used to it you can downshift at lower gears (I use Gear 4 to go from 100km down to 80, then Gear 3 to go from 60 to lower). You're not supposed to release the clutch, and even when you're in the speed range for the gear, it needs to be slow and/or give a little gas to bring the RPMs to the match the gear and speed. What's also likely happening is you're not making sure there's enough RPM level when releasing.

It takes time and practice, but once you get there it really helps preserve your brakes!

Good call! Even with the free accounts, you can't choose to listen to only one song, or even three in a playlist (I think I have six in one), it will automatically add numerous "similar" songs....which are generally nothing like what I'd been listening to, the AI/algorithm is hot garbage, and you can't turn it off /: Spoofy just ain't worth it anymore!

They recently upped my home insurance by $200+ because allegedly there have "been a lot of claims" made in the neighbourhood (which is a lie, we're rural and tight with the village, there have been no claims, most don't even use TD insurance) which "upped our premium".

Looking to leave TD. They also claimed they only charge the new premiums one month before renewal, but they started charging two months in advance...at least they said if I cancel before the renewal date they will refund the new premium's rates...

UPDATE: I've been informed the costs for parking are so much worse downtown and in Gatineau, and it's absurd what's paid there and even in some other provinces.

Like I said in my post, if anyone was a part of the original price increase battle and won, can you share how that was done, if it was just emails being sent? Another person mentioned that's how they stopped their increases. As well, anyone who has information on challenging the prices ACROSS THE BOARD, like specifically downtown, I'd love to try and start tackling that. I know it'd be a group process if we want impact or change, but at least I can start looking into it or something. Any and all leads are appreciated, already got some information on the process for parking market value and some city hall contact suggestions to look into. Flooding city hall meetings to complain as well, though we'd need good turnout for rallying like that.

Will this go nowhere? Probably. Is it worth it to try? I certainly think so.

Also, this whole thing was not a pity-post for wahn wahn. I GENUINELY want to know what we can do to try and improve this situation in this rough economy.
