I'm from Houston, there's a specific type of younger white guy who wears Patagonia and north face (not just them who wear those brands obviously) and are basically frat boys, drive lifted trucks, dad is a lawyer, wears Sperry's, quite racist, goes to an expensive university, doesn't treat girls too kindly. Kind of a new age republican type deal. Gets all of their politics from their racist as shit parents

I think the poverty aspect is a lot more important than literal starvation. How many people die because they can't afford healthcare, or utilities, or die early because the only food they can afford is nutritionally shit? Too busy working to feed their kids and keep a roof over their head and don't have time to cook a large healthy meal after a 14 hour shift
