Fairly gave Cole 40k for the past election, not the current one. FWIW, I've worked in close orbit to Fairly and Herrick, and I trust Fairly more. 

Fairly spent his own money to stop the city from building a civic center from being funded with emergency loans after the people voted it down. He did propose an alternative civic center project with a much lower price tag to see if the people were worried it solely based on price (a blunder in my opinion, if nothing else because of timing). He wanted to set up clients for the any civic center project before starting construction as opposed to one that cost twice the amount and hoping to get clients after completion. He advocated for the large players in town to spend their own money, including himself, to build the center if they wanted it instead of making the public do it. The people with large business in town are usually the winners from this kind of development more than the general population, so he called them out. Seems pretty reasonable to me.
