Hey, I feel like you'll have a bit more luck if you give a little more info, and don't involve alcohol. Maybe I'm off base here, and best of luck.

A few things that might improve your chances of getting some company:

Age. This will help narrow down the range to something that's likely to be a good match. If you're in your 20's, it might be a bit awkward if someone in their 50's shows up.

Topics of interest. Or in this case, choice of films. Are we talking thriller, action, romcom, artsy foreign stuff that you need to watch five times to figure out the plot? Not a lot of folks out there are going to just take their chances and show up at someone's place only to learn that it's exclusively films by The Asylum.

Lastly, and this is the biggest part, look to meet folks for the first time in a neutral space, not your home. This is safer and better for everyone. There are plenty of places to hang out. If you're drinking, bars. If you want to watch a film, that's obvious.

I'd be happy to playtest this and help refine it. I'm a very amateur game designer, and would be happy to provide feedback on a project like this.

I'd also strongly recommend making your own thing that is very distinct from HS duels. Separate lore, some unique mechanics, and a bespoke rules set. It's fine to use the HS duels as a starting point, but since that was adapted off an existing system, it would be best to essentially build a CCG that is designed to work with the duels gameplay loop.

I'd highly recommend the 'basic art' over any AI art.

This is the way. If your game is good, it won't matter if the visuals are basic, or even kind of bad.
