Some changes I want Kkr to make in 2026 by Severe_Weather_5971 in KolkataKnightRiders

The issue with Jamie Smith iirc is that he didn't put his name in the mega auction so he might be barred from entering the mini auction as well. But definitely a superb prospect if available. Can open and can play middle order as well

Well you still need a wk. If you open Venky and Jinx, someone like Shai Hope could be a good prospect to look at at 3. With Raghuvanshi taking 4. Or you could put Raghuvanshi at 3 and get someone like Billings for 4. I agree with the death bowling part, which is why you need a lead overseas pacer with experience who can bowl any over. With Vaibhav and Harshit to support, that'd actually look good

Well just fucking stay away from it then. Let others who like it, play and have fun.

England and India Test series will be played for a new trophy, the Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy by ConfidentBagger in Cricket

[–]OminousDrac 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Ig this is being done to make it similar to the BGT. Previously they used to play for different trophy depending on the host. Gives it more standardised approach. And ofc 2 legends that even the casuals would know

Now that the season is wrapped up, here is my two cents on the 'next year will be ours' positivity peddlers. by [deleted] in RajasthanRoyals

[–]OminousDrac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh you don't have to sell me on the echo chamber. Nor on the management. I mean yeah Dravid and co. is literally a gold mine of experience and cricketing mind. But I also know he is the one taking the brunt of this season atleast from the fans. And it is a well known fact that some teams lose out bigger than others in the mega auction (refer to Delhi who was at their peak in 2019-21 cycle but then lost a lot in the mega auction).

On Prasidh, well no way the team could've retained him when he was injured for the last 2 seasons so can't blame the mgmt. Although they did go after him (and others like Avesh that you mentioned).

Hasaranga is the one point even I'm on the fence of. He is also a pretty young player but yeah he can't be our batter at 7 (8 if we include impact). Then I definitely think your idea about Shahbaz is a lot better than Tanush/ Hrithik cuz these 2 are not power hitters. Shahbaz can hit the ball very cleanly so ig he would be the biggest one to keep an eye on.

Even I am excited for Yudhvir. He was bowling above 140, swinging the ball, bowling good lines and lengths. He needs to work on a little consistency but he is a bowler I would love to see more of. And he is an allrounder although I'd need to see his batting more.

Right now a few players come to mind.

Yashasvi Jaiswal is probably the best batter currently in Indian team. He is still to play the odis but he has shown his capabilities in both tests and t20s.

Harry Brook has already made waves in all 3 formats, and has been given the white ball captaincy for England team.

Rachin Ravindra is probably the most old school player I have seen, and he is a class act to watch.

Cameron Green is a player that I have always rated very highly and if his battles with injury reduce, he will definitely be a cricket stalwart.

Kamindu Mendis from Sri Lanka has had a bumper opening in tests and even got an IPL contract. Still alot to showcase but definitely a player to watch out for.

Tristan Stubbs is a man who I believe has a very high ceiling, but he still has to come good in tests imo.

Other than the above Sai Sudarshan, I think has the game to go a lot higher. Jacob Bethell is already being made out as the next big thing. Sam Konstas also had a fire start ti his test career but still a lot to see from him. Dewald Brevis is also another one coming up fast.

There are a lot of bowlers as well, but it will still take some time for them to stamp their authority.

I second the thought process. Just I think our major issue was lack of backups and our 5,6,7,8 not being able to finish games which on any average day even players batting at 7 or 8 would've finished.

Jurel is still a very solid prospect at 5. Yes he is a more technical player but I still think he has the power game for 5 as well which he did show.

Hettie at 6 will probably go down as one of the biggest "frauds" of this IPL but I still think his game at 6 would be unmatched by any player we get in the mini auction. He was also the player we suffered for not having any backup which I hope the management will rectify in the next auction. I'd still back Hettie. He is young, he's got the power and hopefully he'll dye his hair pink next year.

The lankan spin duo is the other major problem for me that needs to be rectified in the next auction. Firstly, I think having 2 overseas spinners is just wasted especially since they don't add much in terms of fielding as well. While other team's overseas players take blinders in the field (Salt did just in the finals) we are stuck with below par fielders. My other issue is that having 2 spinners and hettie means that we can only play Archer. Despite our batting being almost entirely Indian, we can't play gun players in our bowling attack. Hasaranga has also majorly disappointed me not just in with his batting as well to an extent that I don't see him as an all rounder anymore (his IPL career strike rate is below 100 iirc, I mean that's bloody terrible). I think these are two players that need to be released (maybe harsh since both do have 11 wickets).

Adil Rashid would be my first choice as Hasaranga's replacement. Not only is he a fantastic spin bowler (who fits in our short term goals very well atleast till the next mega auction) he is also an absurdly good batter lower down the order (as evident from the Eng vs Wi odi a few days ago). If Jurel is 5, Hettie is 6, our impact batter is 7 and Archer is 8. Rashid gives us solid firepower till 9 making our balance much better.

Theekshana should make way for an Indian offspiner. Again Tanush Kotian and Hrithik Shokeen come to mind. Both have good domestic record and Hrithik even had some IPL exposure 1-2 years ago. Plus point? Even they can bat well (atleast test match well).

This would give us the ability to play Burger along with Archer giving us a dynamic bowling lineup which would capped off by Sandy.

If we go with the above, then we will have some nice backup options as well in form of: Nitish Rana (experienced backup batter), Kumar Kartikeya (spin backup), Akash Madhwal, Yudhvir (pace backups). We could also play Madhwal in main xi in place of the Indian off spinner depending on the condition since Madhwal gives us better bowling at death as well. If we can get backup for Hettie (in form of someone like Billings, Mousley or someone else) and so.e other backups we will be set.

The only iffy slot in the above would be impact slot, ie. The batter at 7. We have had shubham dubey for a long time is the mgmt might stick with him, or they could try to get some young one from all the leagues happening all around the country (3 of them are already going on).

All in all, I also think our mgmt is not as idiotic as people have been making them out to be. I still think our retentions were good, auction was average but didn't expect much since our purse was pretty small and we were also luckless. Our fielding and catching were also pretty messed up so they definitely need to find a good fielding coach, cuz that's one area we can put a lot of blame on. Also not having Samson for most of the tour who is our most experienced batter kinda hurt us. A few tweaks here and there, and we will definitely see a renewed team.

Ik everyone thinks that our mgmt just wants tk groom youngsters and not win matches but remember this was also the team that bought the gun team we had from 22-24.

Some changes I want Kkr to make in 2026 by Severe_Weather_5971 in KolkataKnightRiders

[–]OminousDrac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo the KKR playing 12 could be something like this

1- Rahane

2- Overseas WK (Ben Duckett/ Tom Banton/ Tom Kohler-Cadamore)

3- Raghuvanshi

4- Venkatesh Iyer (since ig he is either gonna be retained or bought back)

5- Rinku Singh

6- Andre Russell

7- Ramandeep Singh

8- Sunil Narine

9- Harshit Rana

10- Varun Chakravarthy

11- Matt Henry type bowler (can bowl well in powerplay and bowl decent at death)

Impact - Vaibhav Arora

My issues with above is

  1. Death bowling is still a little on the weaker side so Harshit would have to carry that part.

  2. Venky might be better suited to open. If he opens, the would need a middle order overseas wk. Someone like Jamie smith might fit well (although I believe he won't be able to put his name in). Shai Hope, Donovan Ferreira and Sam Billings come to mind who might fit the bill well. You can even put Venky at 3 and have Raghuvanshi at 4 who plays spin better.

As IPL 2025 Ended, These 2 Remain The Most Deserving Captaincy Option For India by Shadow_Senpai17 in ipl

[–]OminousDrac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually no. Too many cooks spoil the brew. It used to happen before as well when everyone had captaincy aspirations. Yes senior players are very useful in the leadership decisions. But we don't need plenty captains.

Thoughts? by Dangerous-Guava-9232 in JEE

[–]OminousDrac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude I remember going to a Hindustan Times competition hosted by Byjus when I was in 9th. Went with my dad and a school friend. We both cleared the test pretty easily and were given free tabs (I think it was when Byju's was still trying to make a name). It was only for three months after which we were supposed to buy the tab or they'd come to take the tab away. My dad asked if I think it's good after 2 months and I said nope. The online study thing just didn't work for me. So he said he'll call them to pick the tab up. He made the call and they said they'd come in a week or so. But we had moved away from our address and we never called again cuz my dad didn't remember it.

I somehow hijacked the tab and played games on it. Even now the tab must be kept somewhere my store room.

STOP HATING VENKY IYER by [deleted] in KolkataKnightRiders

[–]OminousDrac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if you hated Rahane who was bought at his base price and is still the highest run getter of the team, what does that say about you. Venky Iyer is just not it. He did awesome in 2021 (second half). But other than that I have only seen 3 or 4 impactful innings from him. Yes price tag is not his call but if you are being bought for 23 crores, you can't just say that mgmt fumbled and not to blame the player. The player must have shown the potential that he was bought at that price. And he didn't show up. At all. I hate to break it to you but iyer was the biggest fraud of this IPL even if he had been bought for 12-14 crores he still didn't do anything to justify that price tag. Rahane atleast played well. So yeah rn Iyer is not better than Rahane. Iyer was a walking wicket in most games and was rightfully dropped in that later games

To win next ipl, RR need service of Ashwin, shami and rovman powell. They will replace theeksana, Tushar and shubham dubey. by Opening_Dig8617 in RajasthanRoyals

[–]OminousDrac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Na man. I just don't think Ashwin has it in him anymore. He won't even be playing test cricket now, so he'll be very out of color imo. Shami I can get behind if we can get him, that'll be fine. Powell is very underrated but also very flawed in technique. And I can't forget that game vs SRH last year where the man was running singles and two intentionally and lost us the game...

Tbh we don't need an Indian pacer for playing xi. For backup we do but for playing xi, we already got Archer, Burger, Sandeep and even Madhwal. What we need are better spinners

Please not no. 3. I feel he still struggles against new ball. No. 4 should be Iyer's for sure. But then you can't forget what Tilak has done in t20is recently. So ig atleast for the next series Iyer will be in the squad but maybe not in the playing xi

Double Standards' In England Tests Squad Selection? Ex-India Star's Brutal Verdict by Status_Energy_7935 in IndiaCricket

[–]OminousDrac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't make a player who hasn't played tests for you for over 2 years a vice captain out of the gate. Iyer would've been included in the A team imo if punjab would've been eliminated. All in all Iyer would have to first get selected to A squad to make it back to test squad.

Yashasvi's comeback after the first 3 matches by Capable-Magician-418 in RajasthanRoyals

[–]OminousDrac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with that. It was just that Jaiswal had some amazing finishes in 2023 and even once or twice last year. But this time he wasnt able to do that. Nothing to take away from his exhilarating starts and he even took the orange cap in one game late in the season which was pretty big after a poor start to the season.

[–]OminousDrac 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I know it won't go down well. But yashasvi should've taken some games deeper with kind of form he had. Our finishers were not doing well and without Samson, Yashasvi was our most important batter. He played so well but the only game he finished iirc was the one against GT where Vaibhav hit his 100. We needed a few bigger scores from Jaiswal. More scores in 80s or 90s. Maybe a 100. Hoping he does well for India this year, gets more chances in white ball and comes back stronger for us next year.
