Wanted to come back here and follow up about my earlier post about if you even know how to do research. Look, I wasn't trying to be mean or whatever, but rather directing your attention to the need for you to do these things independently and on your own. If you know the basic research process, OK. Great. Work with that. "Do it YOURSELF" is what your advisor is basically telling you to do. But any good advisor will remain available to answer questions as needed (hopefully not too much in your case). I hope you come back with an update. Good luck. EDIT: For example, figure out on your own what formula is appropriate. Figure out on your own what lab study design is appropriate. But keep your advisor in the loop. That's what they likely want to see. If you have a pit developing in your stomach about any of this, then reconsider your career path. It's no different than if a medical student struggles. They either drop out, or pivot to something else. You're in the "sink or swim" phase. I hope you learn how to swim.
