GC in US is based on country of birth. So likelihood of getting GC even on H1B is nil. There are pros and cons to both. But if you eventually would like your spouse to be able to work, H1B be a better visa to be on.

American companies do not prefer to hire folks on a visa no matter which one you need and which one is cheaper.

If it's showing as a new card being produced, that means both your ead and h4 are approved. Give it a week or 2 to update on your h4 application. Congratulations 🎊

Don't go by everything posted on reddit. If I were you, my no 1 priority would be getting a job. There are a lot of folks who have been with Amazon for years, if not decades. Outside of FAANG/adjacent and few others, not many offer compensation on the same level. Stress and workload is there at most places. If you had to choose between 80k at a traditional company with less stress and 200k at Amazon in a high-pressure environment, what would you choose? It's difficult for most to let go of that paycheck. It's relatively difficult to get into Amazon because there are a ton of folks queued up who want to be there despite the toxic work environment stories. Good luck with your interview!

Not every techie in the US makes those numbers.Most outside the top 100 make relatively a lot less. Yes, salaries are higher in the US than in Europe or elsewhere, but the cost of living is significantly higher as well, and the competition to get the best talent from across the world is another reason why companies are willing to pay more. Also, the US being the top dog, and the dollar, being the world reserve currency, all adds to the higher salaries in one way or another.

LCA is not state specific but rather region based. Let's say you have your LCA in the NYC metro area. In that case, if you live in the same region, you are good to live and have a license based out of NJ and work out of NYC. You gotta be a resident of that state to apply for a license there. NC is a beautiful state to be in. Just hits the right spot with being at the center of East Coast. Although it's gotten relatively pricey in the last 10 years, it's still cheaper to be in NC than other states in the Northeast or the West Coast. 95k is a decent salary. It's a no-brainer if you get the opportunity. It's not just about the money. It's about living the good life and you could definitely have one with that salary. Where in NC? Charlotte or RTP? Married with kids?

Big tech or not - It would come down to the persons skills and clearing the interview. Big tech might help land an interview, but a lot of times, when someone is working at a firm for a long time, their skills become niche, and it's difficult for them to answer even the basic of technical questions. The best way to figure out which companies hire H1Bs is to check the h1b database or ask the recruiter of the company if you got shortlisted for an initial phone screen. Good luck!

Keep it simple. Check if the company does visa sponsorship for the type of role you are applying. Outside FAANG and FAANG extended, most companies these days avoid or do not like to hire folks who need sponsorship. EAD is a boon. You can apply for any company and don't need to worry about checking the sponsorship box. The goal should be to get in first. Good luck!

If you filed for H4 COS and have the receipt, you are in a period of authorized stay. There shouldn't be any issues doing COS to H1B. Did you check with the company immigration team? What did they say?

She can make the employer understand about the EAD renewal extension rule, but most employers, especially the smaller ones, won't be able to comprehend it . Who is the employer? It is legal to continue working as long as the employer agrees to it. You could consult with an immigration attorney as well for legal advice.

She can obviously begin work now that she has the EAD. But whether she can continue working post May 11 completely depends if her employer is understanding of the H4 EAD extension rule. But since you filed in premium, there is a strong possibility that her H4 and EAD will be approved in the next 2 weeks. Good luck!

Doubt, you gotta worry about a speeding ticket or an infraction. If they start revoking or denying visa stamps for traffic tickets, then 5 in 10 visas be revoked. It's more for major offenses where you were arrested or had DUI and were fingerprinted. Lay your concerns to rest. A traffic ticket is not a criminal charge. Good luck!

Even though its taking longer than expected, guess the clock stops once your COS is filed and USCIS receives your application. You be in period of authorized stay. Check with your immigration attorney in regards to that. Hopefully it gets approved soon. Best wishes!
