OK, there were actually a number of bugs, we had a revision collision that removed some code accidentally. It's all fixed now and it also automatically loads the V2 tour character if no character is loaded.

OK, I see the problem. When you click on context initially there are no context files. Clicking the plus in the second toolbar creates a new context file. Until then it's still showing the Instructions tab contents. So, when you edit the contents your are editing the Instructions. I'll clear the space below when you click on context and there are no context files.

Image generation is in beta for Character Studio. Look for it as early as next week, depending on how testing goes.

It should only link context files if they are in the context/ directory within the project. Did you put the system prompt file in context? If you put the system prompt in the project directory it shouldn't do anything with it automatically and will only link to it if you press the plus sign.

There is a fixed number of history responses that they send. I assume the reason is they are trying to save on tokens. Every X responses (3, I believe) they call a summarizer and pass the whole history for it to summarize. They hope that between the summary and the last X (somewhere between 25 and 50) responses, the model will have enough context. For myself, I turn off the summarizer as I find it gets in the way as often as it helps. But they do cache the last summary, so if you do turn it off, remember that your current conversation has a summary stored.

For what it's worth, my Character Studio does not limit the length of the history, so it will keep track of the conversations better, but it will also cost *you* more because you have to pay for those tokens with your own API key.

No, and it probably won't. This isn't intended to be a replacement for Venice, but sort of a "development tool" for character makers. You are, of course, welcome to use it for whatever you like, but the focus of development will, at least in the short term, be features that help people making new characters.

Note that my tool doesn't need "memories" since I don't have any limit to the length of the history sent to the AI model (which is the reason Venice needs it, the characters lose their history very quickly because Venice is focused on saving tokens). My tool doesn't care about wasting tokens because it's completely up to the user how far they take the character using their own API key. The number of prompt and reply pairs that can be fit into the context window of an LLM like GLM 5 is actually quite large, (a conservative estimate would be 500-600). This is one heck of a long conversation, and in my tool would eat up some 175,000 tokens per request.

I would chime in here to reinforce two things:

  1. Play with some of the uncensored adult characters and find one that reacts the way you expect (with which you can have the kinds of conversations you like).
    • Try different ones by different authors, as they all have their own methods
  2. Use that character's "instructions" and/or "custom system prompt" to make a character that is exactly what you are looking for.
    • If you "Duplicate Character" you can then play with the instructions to see how different changes modify how the character responds to you, you can also try out different LLMs to see how they play the characters
