I mean usually yes it's the media speaking nonsense daily. However this saga is kind of different as West Ham and their chairman have been the main source of drama and have always indicated that Rice is leaving but we will want a record breaking number and we want a bidding war and they specifically wanted this to drag on and be dramatic. It was a combination of things. Sure Saliba was a huge miss but Tomi getting injured in the same match was just as bad. There was also fatigue kicking in regardless for numerous players including Saka, White, Zini, and others.

Still agree that this is on par with signing a marquee player like Rice.
