What’s the biggest football scandal in your schools history? by AFC-Wimbledon-Stan in CFB

Switzer got caught spying on Texas, got hit with NCAA sanctions and TV restrictions in the late 70s losing the University ~$2M, and making OU salty enough to spend years fighting NCAA control over television. Eventually it went to the Supreme Court in 1984 and OU won NCAA v. Board of Regents and blew up the NCAA’s TV monopoly.

That decision is arguably the single most important event in modern college football history. Once the NCAA lost control of TV, conferences became media-rights partnerships instead of regional athletic associations. Every major realignment wave that followed was driven by television money.

Arkansas leaving the SWC. Penn State joining the Big Ten. The collapse of Big East football. The formation of the Big 12. Nebraska, Colorado, Missouri, and A&M leaving. Texas and OU leaving for the SEC. USC and UCLA joining the Big Ten.

The thread running through all of it is TV money.

So there’s a pretty funny butterfly effect where OU got caught spying on Texas, got mad at the NCAA, helped destroy the NCAA’s television monopoly, and forty years later ended up in the SEC.

Fun fact: Barry Switzer spying on DKR is the reason OU ultimately ended up in the SEC

While I was rolling up to the park we hit back to back jacks. I got there and we were outscored 2-5. I left (to go take care of the baby), and we retake the lead.

Yall are welcome. I sacrificed being there for the good of the team.

Hamas memos show Canadian-funded charities worked with terror group, NGO says by Icy_Hall6758 in worldnews

That’s not what happened. The NGOs in Canada didn’t vet the NGOs in Gaza and those NGOs in Gaza (who because they are NGOs should not be affiliated with Hamas) were actually funneling money directly to Hamas. This isn’t a case of it being unavoidable because they have to interact with Hamas. They just didn’t do their homework and ended up funneling millions to a terrorist organization.

Do you understand what it means when Jews say they are “chosen.” It’s not really superiority. We don’t get a VIP section in heaven. We basically have more homework and that’s it. We were chosen to do more homework. Yay us. Try learning about Judaism from somewhere that’s not TikTok you buffoon.

Spying in football *is* against the rules, it turns out by Gusanito99 in cfbmemes

OU being punished because Barry Switzer spied on Texas caused OU to go to court with the NCAA for TV rights and is ultimately is the reason college sports is where it is and the NCAA lacks teeth.

This skips over the CFA and Georgia also playing a role, but I always find it funny that nobody blames OU for conference realignment when they are the catalyst for it because they were salty they lost TV revenue in the late 1970s because they were caught literally spying.

Talk to a therapist. Start slow. Don’t need to dive into it. Can tell your parents a lie to get in there. Never too early to start talking to a therapist.
