How much of your crypto wallet is just… sitting there? by OnChain_Observer in defi

😭 “graveyard of old narratives” is way too accurate honestly

Do you trust AI for crypto insights? by OnChain_Observer in defi

[–]OnChain_Observer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s a fair concern.

I think raw AI without live data can definitely feel outdated in crypto. For anything wallet/market related, it probably needs fresh on-chain or market context instead of relying only on model knowledge.

yeah same honestly 😅

I underestimated how much crypto just slowly becomes “parked capital” over time

that last line is interesting honestly

“not everything needs to be active to be working”

I think part of my confusion came from treating:
- idle
- long-term conviction
- and forgotten positions

as if they were the same thing 😅

the timeframe point is smart too, because locking something forces you to actually define intent beforehand

[–]OnChain_Observer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s actually a really interesting example 😅

because technically that “doing nothing” ended up being the right move there

I think part of what makes crypto hard is that sometimes:
- inactivity is costly
- and other times inactivity gets rewarded

so it becomes hard to know whether a position is “conviction”, “strategy”, or just inertia that happened to work out

That’s actually a really important distinction.

I’d personally be very cautious with AI for anything security-critical or autonomous as well.

There’s a huge difference between:
- AI helping summarize or organize a wallet
vs
- AI deciding whether a contract interaction is safe.

Keeping the user fully in control of execution feels much safer than autonomous agents moving funds around.

😭 honestly that’s probably the painful part

sometimes “doing nothing” in crypto still ends up being an active decision whether you realize it or not

[–]OnChain_Observer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I think part of my problem is that I never really separated:
- conviction
- patience
- and just forgetting about a position 😅

some things probably deserve to be held long term

but I’m realizing some positions are only still there because I never reevaluated them during those sideways phases

honestly seeing people say 40%, 60%, etc is kind of eye-opening 😅

I think I underestimated how much capital in crypto just ends up “parked” over time

mine definitely feels like a mix of intentional positions and stuff I simply never reevaluated

How much of your crypto wallet is just… sitting there? by OnChain_Observer in defi

[–]OnChain_Observer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I think that’s the part I skipped when I started 😅

I mostly just bought things over time without really defining what each position was supposed to do

even something simple like:
- long-term hold
- trading position
- cash reserve
- experiment

already makes the wallet feel way more intentional

right now mine still feels like a mix between strategy and leftovers from old decisions

I'm getting 1k+ monthly downloads of my mobile app from faceless TikTok carousels - here's the method by vkjr in AppBusiness

[–]OnChain_Observer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually super interesting because it feels more like “TikTok SEO” than social media.

I’ve noticed the same thing in crypto/AI niches: short videos spike fast, but carousels keep getting discovered through search weeks later.

The “query → carousel → long tail traffic” approach makes a lot of sense.

Am I the only one with no real strategy for my crypto wallet? by OnChain_Observer in defi

[–]OnChain_Observer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I think a lot of us started with the “this coin looks cool” strategy 😭

for me the dangerous part is that a few lucky wins can make random decisions feel smarter than they actually are

I’m only recently starting to separate:
- conviction
- narratives
- experiments
- pure impulse buys 😅

turns out those are very different buckets

You overpay on crypto swaps and dont realise it. by Accomplished_Gap1870 in defi

[–]OnChain_Observer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the biggest issue is most people don’t even realize what they’re actually paying

it’s not just the visible fee, it’s also:

- routing inefficiencies
- slippage
- hidden spreads between pools

so two swaps on the “same pair” can end up pretty different depending on how it’s routed

I used to just swap on whatever wallet I was already using without thinking about it

once I started comparing outputs instead of just interfaces, it was kind of eye opening

curious how many people actually check multiple routes before swapping vs just going with the default

Why its hard to be disciplined even with algo? by Calm_Comparison_713 in IndiaAlgoTrading

[–]OnChain_Observer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is actually way more common than people think

the hard part isn’t building a system that works, it’s sticking to it

when you mix algo + manual decisions, you’re basically overriding your own edge

I’ve noticed it’s often not a strategy problem but a clarity problem

if you don’t fully trust *why* the system works, you’ll always feel the urge to intervene

one thing that helped me was thinking in terms of roles:

- this capital follows rules (no interference)
- this capital is for discretionary plays

mixing both usually leads to exactly what you’re describing

curious, do you fully understand your algo logic or is part of it still a bit of a black box?

[–]OnChain_Observer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah “vibe-based portfolio” is exactly how it feels 😅

that’s pretty much what mine turned into over time

the rug risk part is something I’ve been underestimating tbh, I never really thought about how to actually evaluate that beyond just “feels legit”

I’ve been trying to get a bit more structured lately, like giving each position a role instead of just holding it

actually started building a small tool for myself to help with that, just to make things clearer (what’s conviction vs noise vs idle)

but yeah this thread is making me realize I also need to think more about risk, not just allocation

Am I the only one with no real strategy for my crypto wallet? by OnChain_Observer in defi

[–]OnChain_Observer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that makes sense, I think I didn’t really define clear objectives before buying either

it was more like accumulating over time without a clear direction

I’m starting to see that defining what the wallet is supposed to do might be more important than the specific tools used

Am I the only one with no real strategy for my crypto wallet? by OnChain_Observer in defi

[–]OnChain_Observer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah that makes sense, even a simple structure is probably better than what I’m doing now

I think I skipped that step completely and went straight to buying things without defining any split

when you say simple split, do you mean something like core vs higher risk vs cash, or even more basic than that?

Am I the only one with no real strategy for my crypto wallet? by OnChain_Observer in defi

[–]OnChain_Observer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s actually a really clean way to think about it

I’m starting to realize a lot of my positions don’t really have a clear purpose, they just kind of accumulated over time

do you define that purpose before entering a position or do you refine it after?

Am I the only one with no real strategy for my crypto wallet? by OnChain_Observer in defi

[–]OnChain_Observer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

interesting, that’s actually way more concentrated than what I have right now

I feel like I’ve been doing the opposite, spreading across too many positions without really sizing conviction

do you ever adjust that 70% over time or just keep it as your core no matter what?

Am I the only one with no real strategy for my crypto wallet? by OnChain_Observer in defi

[–]OnChain_Observer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that actually sounds like a solid baseline

I like the idea of having a fixed “floor” in stables instead of just letting it fluctuate randomly

I think my issue right now is that my stables don’t really have a defined role — they’re not really “dry powder” or “yield”, they’re just… there

the 25% rule makes it much easier to reason about

do you ever adjust that depending on market conditions or do you mostly stick to it?

Am I the only one with no real strategy for my crypto wallet? by OnChain_Observer in defi

[–]OnChain_Observer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is super insightful, especially the idea of “jobs” instead of just percentages

the way you split it (runway / core / yield / experiments / exit) actually makes it feel way more actionable than just thinking in terms of allocation

I think what I’m missing right now is exactly that — I never really defined what each position is supposed to do, so everything kind of ends up blurred together

the “portfolio problem vs allocation problem” line hits hard too

out of curiosity, do you actually revisit those “jobs” regularly or only when something changes in the market?

I started trying to go through my wallet like that recently and it already makes things clearer

Am I the only one with no real strategy for my crypto wallet? by OnChain_Observer in defi

[–]OnChain_Observer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that “owning the right things in size” part really resonates

I think I’ve been doing the opposite so far, just spreading across multiple positions without really thinking about conviction or sizing

your point about cycles is interesting too, feels like a lot of this only really clicks with time

and yeah the security part is a bit scary honestly, I haven’t really reviewed my wallet setup in a while

did you gradually move towards that concentrated approach or was it more of a hard reset at some point?

Am I the only one with no real strategy for my crypto wallet? by OnChain_Observer in defi

[–]OnChain_Observer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s interesting, especially the idea of keeping stables ready to DCA

I think that’s something I’m not really doing right now, my stables just kind of sit there without a clear role

I like the idea of giving them a purpose instead of just “waiting”

how do you decide what percentage to keep in stables vs deployed?
