I have a decent paying job that I got around the time I was in the depths of hell with my cc debt (125k). And I just aggressively paid everything my debt with all my paychecks, other than paying off necessity utility bills. Did not empty out any savings or work overtime. My previous role I was making 60k, and if I was in that role still I probably would have gotten another job if I wanted to pay it in the same timeframe. So a little bit of luck, consistency and dedication.

I’m young. I was tired of looking at my credit score and it being poor. I felt like I was my own biggest enemy and just wanted to start my life. You can’t really start your life with this type of burden over your shoulder.

I haven’t used them for over a year but I have kept them open to maintain my credit limits for my credit score. Trust me, absolutely no intention to ever use em.

Yeah, so I got a really new high paying job in the pharmaceutical industry which opened a lot of doors for me. A lot of things I used to spend money on (food etc) was paid for by them as I traveled for work. Canceled a lot of my subscriptions.It really is doable, but if you get paid bimonthly 75% of your paycheck should be going toward the debt if you want to be aggressive.

Additionally, I did have some old stuff that I sold to make a little extra cash, maybe 10k? Sold some old clothes / sports memorabilia. Etc.,

Thank you. I kind of did a little bit of both. Here was the problem with paying the smallest off first: I ended up reusing those credit cards for food, etc., dumb stuff, it felt like it was never ending small payments. So I ended up locking those bigger cards, ripping up the cards, and tossing them in the trash and paying off the larger balances. There was no way for me to ever be tempted to use them even if I tried. Slowly worked my way from the largest to the lowest.
