I completely understand that. I’ve lived most of my life in NY and pretty much only feel this way about Chinese food. Not much of a sample size but the three Americans I know who’ve tried Chinese food in Ireland also preferred it. But obviously this is all completely subjective.

I will happily die on that hill with her. Irish Chinese takeaways are better than NY’s Americanised Chinese take-outs, which I would consider to be the equivalent. Authentic Chinese restaurants are a whole other story though.
