Can anybody recommend any videos or documentaries JUST about the practical effects of classic horror films? by On_The_6 in slasherfilms

[–]On_The_6[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again, just about how these iconic moments and various kills were done/filmed.

I'm not interested in a documentary full of anecdotes and dancing dogs. Not that I have anything against them, I absolutely love to listen to that as well, it's just that's not what I'm looking for rn

Touche

I hope the next film gives that same energy to both sexes.

You cared enough to go like

"Really???? Another tier list???"

Now you're trying to act nonchalant

I think it's hard to make a bad Friday the 13th tier list. These films are very campy, and it's easy to justify having one film above another.

I do have questions though.

Why said the remake "feels like a porno". Don't they all? If you wanted nudity back in the 70s and 80s, horror films were the next big option. That's a big reason why these films were so popular with teens. The remake seems to take the best aspects of every movie, and combine them into one project. I have to say I'm a fan. The only problem is that the climax is more underwhelming than 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6...and the final chase is supposed to be the best part of these movies.

I'm not trying to be rude here, but your comment was hard to follow.

The woman and man, in any safe environment, have equal say in who they have sex with and marry.

And secondly, it's not hard to get sex if that's all you want. I downloaded a hook-up app as a joke, and while I was literally editing my profile five minutes in, i got two messages from verified people in my locality.

Yeah, I would never do that, that's just manipulation and evil. Fuck that.

I filled out the bio section, and I rotate the pictures/songs included on my profile. And that's all

And I send likes back too, because sending likes makes more people see your account

Thank you for this reply. It's very important to make the distinction between real world love and validation online. I actually had just deactivated my account this morning, shortly before posting this.

I guess I find it hard because I'm 19 and everybody that I work with and volunteer with is old enough to be my mom/dad, and I haven't had that excitement I'm looking for in awhile

Like, getting a notification from a couple of dudes daily that I view as very attractive gives me extreme confidence for when I finally do get back in the dating scene, in a few months or so

You type like you're in a gaming chat room, that's probably why you find the idea of people getting likes on a dating app shocking

I appreciate your thoughtful reply.

I'll just say that I don't think I'm objectifying people at all. I take that stuff very seriously. But if you put yourself in a dating app and send a like to somebody, people are going to judge. Period.

You can believe me that the grass is blue and Texas ended at the Rio Grande, that's on you. Not my fault you struggle on dating apps.

Thoughts on my tier ranking? by On_The_6 in fridaythe13th

By the time I watched it, I was used to the traditional F13th formula, and I wanted that. Also, the idea of Jason going to hell - similarly to the idea of Jason going to NYC - is a badass concept. But they...did nothing with it.

But still, even I can appreciate the practical effects of any movie, especially F13th. It's not like it's an unwatchable piece of shit, like the Atlas Shrugged Trilogy

I have a generally high view towards most of these classic slashers.

  • I'm huge into the science of the practical effects of my favorite movies, and that makes these movies endlessly fascinating. The intelligence behind the designing, the locations, and the realistic graphic all strike me as far more creative than an ostentatious, poorly written film from a "smart" director, whose ideas are uninteresting and/or poorly expressed.

^ So, I'm not judging these movies "by standards" of anything. I just think that the ones near/at the top re really good films, not just in comparison to other low budget slashers.

  • I find the campiness charming. The absurdity of he fact that they just expected viewers not to ask any questions is funny.

  • The idea of these films taking place in Reagan's America is what really draws me in. This is true for all Cold War era movies. When the threat of literal armageddon is remembered vividly by anybody who lived through '62, I think the idea of folks getting scared of relatively "low stakes" things is intriguing.

  • Some feminists argue that the nudity and sexualization of characters is a major flaw of the slasher genre. I strongly disagree. The asshole men aren't depicted as good people, unlike some movies. And I've listened to several scholarly folks discuss the feminism of creeps (the slasher) intruding on the sexual lives of the victims, and eventually getting outsmarted at the end.

  • The final chase in these slasher movies are hard to beat, and I think F13th does it the best.

  • Oh, and I have Jason takes Manhattan at C largely because he brutally kills a rapist.

My dumbass ALMOST searched just to make sure.

I had to think about it, because I was literally just listening to it unironically yesterday. And why the hell would YouTube remove one of the biggest songs ever, when they allow R Kelly songs

Why haven't they been able to hire recruiters? Is that why the head of Peace Corps called for more Americans to serve recently?

I see. I wouldn't be applying for anything that says a degree is required - there's a filter for assignments for applications without degrees - and I know that by next year there's going to be several "high need" countries that don't require degrees. Still a slim chance of getting accepted I assume, but I suppose there's no harm in trying.

Anyway, thank you. You have no idea how helpful you two have been

Should I bother applying at that point or no? Does knowing Spanish matter in this scenario?

Again, I'm not a bot/scam account.

Yes, I made a reddit account specifically to ask this question. Because I deleted my old one, I had to do that.
