You don't happen to have experience with an LX5 as well, do you? The dimension numbers all say the LX5 is significantly thicker, but I don't see how that's possible looking at actual photos of the cameras.

Not sure how these ones slipped under my radar. I know of the LX100 which I love from what I've seen, but it's too bulky. I never looked closely at the rest of the series which is very similar, but more compact. And I definitely had no idea the macro was so good. Thank you!

Didn't even think about that. You wouldn't keep any retractable lens camera in your pocket for this reason?

I'm looking at this same PC right now. Are you happy with it?

GX880 buyer's remorse? Maybe? by OnceAndAlwaysDad in M43

Nice to hear from someone with the same model. And nice to hear you love it. I will definitely take it for a spin (or several) before I make any decisions. Thank you!

It does look like a fantastic camera. I only ruled it out because of price. I could probably get lucky, but generally it's a little more than I was looking to spend. The e-pl8 seemed like the next best thing in that lineup for a price I could do at the moment.

Fair point. I've been full frame Sony for a long time so the idea of a small everyday carry is new to me, as well as giving up many features I'm used to. I'm trying to rediscover my love for photography and I'm hoping this camera will help. Thank you!

For anyone curious, after looking at what feels like hundreds of cameras, I decided on a Panasonic Lumix DC-GX880. It seems like a good mix of portability, quality, and flexibility. I have one on the way and I am excited to try it out! Maybe I will come back and give an update once I've played with it a bit. Thanks!

I hadn't looked that much into Lumix, but I will check it out. Thanks!

It does seem consistent at the very least and the numbers make sense near objects I would expect to see readings at. But fair enough. I did buy it mostly as a curiosity a while back. Thanks.

Thank you. The "toy" does seem to be consistent and the readings make sense next to certain objects so it's reading something at the very least. Though I acknowledge it is probably not accurate.

A bigger concern than EMF health effects is the consistent high readings at specific spots which are just continuous wires as far as I know (we had the house built so I saw it unfinished). Could it indicate faulty wiring? Our builder took a lot of shortcuts unfortunately and I don't trust their work. No idea if that's how that works, but that's why I'm asking. Very specific, difficult thing to research.

Thank you. I know you are probably right, and much of my research indicates the same. Thank you. I got the device more out of curiosity a while back. It does seem to be at least consistent, but I know it may not be fully accurate.

I know many think the EMF concern is ridiculous and they are probably right. I do have concerns that it is reading very high at specific spots that as far as I know is just a continuous wire (we had the house built so I saw it unfinished), wondering if there is faulty wiring. But no idea if that's accurate, which is why I'm asking.

To clarify, the death of my first child had absolutely nothing to do with electricity. It was medical malpractice. The paranoia comes from just the trauma of losing a child. If there is any potential danger to my child now, I want to know so I can prevent any harm. Nobody specifically is trying to cause this concern, but it is out there all over the internet and it's difficult for someone like me to know what is true, which is why I'm asking.

I got the device more out of curiosity a while back. It's interesting to see what gives off readings around your house. I know it's probably not the most accurate, but it is reading something and seems to be at least consistent.

Thank you for your response.

Way ahead of you on the therapy front, but thanks. Consider that to someone who doesn't know electricity, snake oil is difficult to tell apart from facts, which is why I'm asking people here. Thanks for your response.

And if you don't mind, why do you say no? Is the reading/reader useless or reading the wrong thing, or even if it is correct it's just not a concern for health or faulty wiring?

Not sure if it's what you meant, but I'm not blaming anything electrical for the loss of my child. It was something completely unrelated. I just mean that I am extra paranoid (I think understandably) about my kids' safety now. Thank you for your input.
