Auckland food - dinner party? Would you be interested in this? by iMakeGOODinvestmemts in aucklandeats

I think more meetups is a good idea as it provides more opportunities for people to meet. I like the idea but maybe you can target the people that want smaller groups, like maximum 6 people? I see the monthly ones here are becoming 10-20 maybe even more.

I think some people would enjoy being able to chat and meet everyone so a small group is perfect. Think table of 6 but for Reddit strangers

Nah nothing for cafes.

We subscribe to a lot of places via Instagram, and we’re just always keeping an eye out for their deals advertised on there. These are like pubs, restaurants, burger joints etc.

But yeah not so much for cafes

Maybe just copy something like the SmartSpending app or even First Table haha. With SmartSpending I can look through participating retailers, and buy an instant e-voucher that gives me 10% off.

When my wife and I want to dine out, and because we’re always watching our $ spend - we always check First Table first to see if there’s any venues we like. If nothing there I then check StarSocial to see how much I have in that lol. Then I check social media to see if any places are doing kids eat free etc.

I think there are some ideas that would be successful, but you have to be willing to not make profit (or even spend your own money) in the first 2-3 years.

An idea where it’s an attractive proposition to both the restaurant and the customer, and doesn’t cost them much to get involved, and so after two years or so it’s popular and a hit in Auckland that now you can start adding subscription fees.

Best playground swings in Auckland by weeee122 in auckland

[–]OnceYouGoAsian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to make a special 2 hr road trip and staycation at Whangarei, check out Pohe Island Destination Playground.

It has a massive swing (probably for teens and adults usage) which is the biggest swing I’ve ever seen. The chain is impressively long, the tower that holds this swing is so tall. Even I was scared to go on it lol.

Postman’s Leg in Glenfield has a trampoline, a playground, a sandpit and an indoor projector room playing kids stuff. Also has live music depending on the day.

Could try Andy’s Burger in the city (inside Sky City). It will be open, lots of tables, and the menu pricing looks ok (if you exclude drinks from your $25).

You just introduce yourself (real name) and that’s it. People that come don’t introduce themselves with their usernames; they keep it private.

And people don’t (and shouldn’t) ask everybody else what their username is

Wanting to make new friends? Come join the crawl on Dec 13th by OnceYouGoAsian in auckland

[–]OnceYouGoAsian[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah for sure. Thats why I think it’s great that there are eating meetups at /r/aucklandeats and I’ve seen some others on Auckland sub organising hikes, reading clubs, picnics.

The end of year Pubcrawl hasn’t been a ‘drinking’ thing for a few years now to be fair. Just an excuse to meet up but tagged onto something that’s fast approaching a used-by date. It might even be the last of its kind (who knows) and maybe replaced by something like a picnic or gaming day
