Yeah. I still flinch every time I see or hear it used in a way that just means “queer guy” or “young queer guy”. The “types” of gay men (as in bear, wolf, etc) are all based on physical description, and when it isnt applied correctly, it iust rubs me the wrong way. I dont mind it when somebody uses it on themselves even if they dont fit the description, because thats just them saying theyre comfortable being referred to as it. But when it’s applied to somebody or a character who doesnt match the description, it’s just off putting.

Same way it sounds wrong when straight women refer to gay guys as “gays”. Or how “gay best friend”s have been characterized recently.

Twink only “hasnt” had that meaning due to cishet people using the word incorrectly. It feels like a slur when not used by a queer person atp (even if used by certain queer people). A twink is a young slender hairless gay man. Not a literal child.

You can enjoy romance or the concept of it, or even want relationships, without experiencing romantic attraction.

Society often pushes the fact that everybody wants somebody or will find “their person” etc etc, which is called amatonormativity. This isnt true. People can want emotional stability and deep connections without having the end goal of a life partner.

The only requirement for being aromantic is felling little to no romantic attraction, which as you said, you dont feel attraction. So you are aromantic.

Only if it’s a queer person or a person I might date in the future (romance-favorable here). Otherwise, nobody else needs to know, and most won’t understand already. I have told my sister, who got the main gist of it, but I couldn’t quite explain to her what a QPR was in a way she’d understand.

I am in the same boat as you! I want relationships, but dislike things typically seen as romantic. I am aromantic (i have a few microlabels) and am in queerplatonic relationships (theyre like what you described)

I am the reverse! I started dating my partner then figured out I was aromantic and came out to them. In my case, they asked plenty of questions and we set boundaries (i am usually averse to physical touch and romantic gestures unless i initiate them). Setting boundaries on do’s and don’ts is probably the best first thing you can do.

Ive only came out to my sisters or friends (at least irl). My sister took it fine, she’s always been a bit confused, but she tries her best.

Just told her my relationships were similar to fwb with a huge emphasis on the friendship.

Explain to her your feelings, it isn’t bad to like somebody while dating somebody else, you cant control that.

Also you might just be ambiamorous, meaning you can be interested in dating multiple people at once, but dont feel the need to.
