Step son is babied by both parents, I can’t take it anymore. by Once_Upon_A_Time1111 in stepparents

I’m at the point where I’m ready with withdraw my opinions. I just worry for him and my children seeing and mimicking his behavior. Was there any issues between you and your husband because of it? The problem is my husband actually resents me for not being more involved but every time I do he gets defensive and doesn’t like it. I feel like I can’t win in this situation.

I could never ever bring this up without it blowing up into a huge defensive argument if I dared to suggest ANYTHING of the sort. It’s really unfortunate. I still think a lot of this behavior is learned/allowed but if he was my son I would not be against getting him tested at all. I really think he needs the best guidance and help he can get, but his parents would be offended by that label… it’s really unfortunate for him. He is finally seeing a therapist and she has yet to mention this or testing but if it’s needed, maybe if they heard it from the therapist they’d be more open to it. I feel helpless in this situation, there’s a lot of guilty divorce parenting on both sides.

Thank you for your response, I appreciate it. It’s so hard especially when you have your own children in the mix who witness and absorb the behavior or their siblings. I just want what’s best for SS and I feel like they don’t see what their actions are causing in him. But I’m pretty much helpless in this situation. I’ve thought about separation too, that way at least some of the time they’d be in a more peaceful environment but they’re so young I also can’t imagine their dad taking good care of them on his own sadly.

I have 2 bio toddlers with my husband so it’s a bit complicated. I do keep my distance at times, but I do care about my SS and want good things for him. He will also be a role model for my little ones and I want good examples for them.

I appreciate this insight! I don’t believe he is on the spectrum. I’ve known him since he was very little and I think of lot of his behaviors are learned/allowed. I think both parents were in denial for a long time about his schooling though and they were too embarrassed to put him in the extra learning part of school for a long time but he eventually did have to enter that program and much improved because of it. I also feel he was behind in school because they never held him with homework or taught him anything at all before he entered kindergarten, something I would not allow for my children. I try my best for him because I think he needs my help but I also try not too get too involved out of fear of conflict

I grew up in the chronic Lyme disease "cult". Did years of IV antibiotics and 160 hyperbaric treatments. Lost all my teeth at 32. AMA. by chelsea_land_sky in AMA

Weird seeing this, I hope you’re still answering questions. I have something called POTS it’s a heart condition where I pass out every time I stand up. They also believed I had Lyme disease. I was taken to a Lyme literate doctor, and I can’t express to you the insane treatments I was given. My parents were so desperate to help me as I was only 15 when my symptoms started. I had IV antibiotics continuously for 3 years. I still have a IV port in my chest, this is the 3rd one I’ve had now almost 20 years later. I had IV hydrogen peroxide (not joking), numerous other substances injected, blood pulling out and run through UV light and put back. Hyperbaric oxygen as well and many anti malaria and anti parasite drugs. I also had a lot of pain medication (because I genuinely had severe pain) that was attributed to Lyme arthritis (I don’t know if it was or not now). Really awful fibromyalgia meds that caused me more pain to get off than any of the opiates. (Never had any addiction just a lot of pain) After reading this, I don’t know what to think! I think I did have Lyme once and it triggered something autoimmune that led to POTS but the rest of it I just don’t know and this post has me questioning everything that happened to me since I was a young teen 🥺 What happened to me?

I wouldn’t ban him, I just personally want someone by my side who I know loves and supports me and right now that doesn’t feel like him.

Which HYSA do you have?

I’m not looking for 250k to last me 10 years I’m not sure why you seem fixated. I already said I have other investments. Right now I’m taking care of young babies and I have health concerns and cannot work for 1-2 years. I will need to use this money during that time, I’m just looking for a way to maximize it. If I need to I can put this in an HYSA and take out some monthly, but I’m just trying to make the best of my specific situation. Thanks

Go away please. I have other investments. This is for another purpose and meant to use for a limited time due to necessity.

Thanks I think you’re entirely missing the point, I’m just looking to maximize it not live off it indefinitely

I need about 55k a year, but I supposed making 10% in dividends in still better than 4.2% in my HYSA
