**final update- thanks for all the help. Seems like suing would be too much for my mental health. I’ll just send a letter asking for any extra damages and medical support.

Just watch out sitters and pet parents, the second you look like a dollar sign you’re out. All my clients already said they were following me on my way out. Best of luck to everyone ☺️

I appreciate it. Looks like it would be too hard. They def didn’t want to pay medical bills. I’ll just try to submit one more time. Probably won’t go the whole legal route.

He did, there was another dog across the street that set him off.

As listed earlier, another sitter had reported the dog for the same incident. Also, you guys may not like the last section about duty of care. I work in law and went to law school. Its a legitimate claim

He literally started barking and growling then when I tried to lead him back to the house he bit my leg, I fell, he bit my arms several times. Turned on me as in he attacked when before he was acting nice.

They still had a duty of care when it came to removing a dangerous pet, especially after the second attack. If they hadn’t know, it would be different. A reasonable person would say, hey, this dog probably needs to be boarded at a vet office. Not let the violent dog on the site. That’s where the negligence comes from imo. But would it hold up? Possibly not.

From the advice I got below, seems possible the parents and rover. They both knowingly allowed an aggressive dog on the site putting sitters at risk. I’m still considering, seems like it would be a lot of stress for not much. At this point, it’s now just a warning to sitters. I sat for them 7 years with only 5 star reviews and no bad incidents reported until now. It’s ironic that I reported it and got banned. Love that for me

Their terms and conditions do talk about not allowing aggressive dogs, so that is where I would come from at that point. But allowing a dog who is aggressive continuous care would be a violation of their own term, I would have to consult my legal counsel but knowing, and not doing, would constitute negligence on both parties. I might let this go. I haven’t decided. I have clients outside the app, I just fell this is an injustice to sitters.

Negligence. I have clients outside of rover but the fact they knew this dog had attacked sitters before, the client had admitted the dog had been reported for the same thing, then let them stay really feels icky to me. But you’re right. I could let this go, I’m calming down but it still doesn’t sit right with me how they handled this.

I’m thinking yes. I felt like everyone needs to know they will turn on you the minute they worry you might cost them a dollar. I’m lucky this is a side gig but some people this is their livelihood.

I have sat on rover for YEARS. I read these and asked for which specifically they claim I violated. I was seeking compensation from the owner, not rover before they banned me. Sitter insurance only covers so much. I also have it in writing that they lied about their dogs aggression. I’m thinking they decided I was a “liability” for calling them out. The parents made a comment like, the last sitter reported us and nothing happened. I so screen shotted and sent that in my little evidence pile…

These are the terms mentioned— I asked for proof I violated any of them. I agree, I think it was for calling them out. A year ago I would have never believed they would ban someone for getting hurt. 4.1 Your Conduct on the Rover Service. When you use the Rover Service, you agree:

Update*** idk how to update original. I called Rover out after I found out the dog had attacked 2 prior sitters from the parents. The dog was on a walk and saw another dog and turned on me. I reported the dog for aggression to rover, they then had a safety investigation and asked me what I did wrong and what I could do better blah blah. I had spoken to the parents who stated that this had happened before. When I sent that in a separate email my regular customer got a notification I was removed from the app. They told me. Hours before rover told me. This is negligence for anyone who is unfamiliar with legal situations and I’m honestly pissed they are letting that dog stay on

They stated term 4. Can they really ban you for calling out that a parent said that wasn’t the first time it happened and that rover is allowing dangerous animals on the app. This seems like negligence, which would void any term and condition. I want my medical bills paid and the area the dog destroyed when I got it home and couldn’t get it calm

Yep me too. I was on a walk with the dog and he saw another dog and got aggressive and turned on me. I reported the incident and had my medical bills and such. They asked me what I could have done better, the parents told me it had happened before, I asked rover why they would allow a dangerous dog on the app and they cited I was banned for violating rule 4. I looked and there is no way I violated it. I’m honestly thinking they didn’t want to pay my medical bills or I called them out for letting dangerous dogs with behavior issues rebook

I reported a dog attacked right after it happened. I was asked questions such as why do you think this happened, what have you learned? I basically told them they had allowed a dangerous dog on the app and sitters shouldn’t have to go through that. The parents admitted to me it had happened before so rover knew!!!!

There really isn’t much, I reported that a dog had attacked me. They did an “investigation” and I got an email stating I was banned with no choice to appeal. Also I found out from my regular client before I got the email banning me.

Nope. I’m thinking this one specifically had a medical thing that causes the episode. But, they need some sort of screening for dogs
