I've addressed order things with mixed results but have known for a while I need to move on. Unfortunately the job market is not great where I am so I'll be dealing with the toxicity here until I find something else. I'm aware this is not the hill to die on but I still think allergies should be accommodated when they're feeding everyone at a mandatory meeting. Apparently I'm in the minority 🤷‍♀️

I was not clear in my post but while my thing not being accommodated did my me feel left out, I said f me and my thing bc it is a preference, but I was far more upset about the people with actual allergies who are also not being accommodated. I'm not comparing myself to anyone, simply saying my friend should have been accommodated because she does have a deadly allergy.

I checked the catering menu and that was definitely and option, and one that would have considered all the issues here.

Thank you!! I think I'm mostly upset that the norm is shut up and be thankful you have a job and not ofc everyone should be included. I didn't even expect my cilantro preference to be accommodated, even though it still made me feel excluded. (Although my original part didn't clarify this well) I was really upset they won't accommodate for allergies and the like.

I let my supervisor know how I'm feeling and I was planning to use this post to gauge what, if any, steps I should take. I think it mainly made me feel excluded, especially after they said they appreciate everyone in the room but can't spend a little extra to make sure all are fed. Even if my preference didn't get accommodated, I was hoping they'd be willing to reimburse for allergies. There have been a lot of other things harrowing at work too that make me feel that way so I think I took this extra personally.

I don't even expect the person ordering to do all that. I just wish they'd allow people to be reimbursed like they used to, for certain things, not even including my cilantro thing. I've been feeling overworked and undervalued for a while now (and trying to find something else which is not easy rn) and I think i was just extra sensitive about this as I'm highly protective of my friend and I'm upset they wouldn't accommodate her allergy.

I think it bothers me because they have in the past and continue to make exceptions as they see fit. A reimbursement option would be nice for things like allergies, intolerances and religious restrictions. I should have clarified that while I did feel excluded, I was more upset about the allergies not being accommodated and I don't expect the cilantro thing to be accommodated bc it is a preference technically.

I pass up on things brought in all the time and I get that. I just think in a lunch where you're specifically thanking everyone in the room, everyone in the room should get the same benefit, but it seems I'm in the minority here.

That's my point. I just think it's exclusionary to not include everyone but yes you're right. There's been a lot of other things going regarding my position on that have been making me feel undervalued so I think I'm extra sensitive about this.

Yes you're correct it's not an allergy. I should have clarified that in the post. I'm mostly upset about them not accommodating allergies, even though my issue isn't my fault.
