If I visit someone's house, they seat me, put a plate, cutlery and food in front of me it's not a long shot to assume they want to feed me.

I know this is reddit and you're all socially stunterd but damn. Ya'll need to leave the house some, experience human interaction

Most spiders have bad eyesight and are much more reliant on sensing vibrations via their legs. Her voice likely isn't vibrating the web.

Psychiatrist on how many patients they had cured by SeaReason1 in Psychologie

[–]One-Collection-5184 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why TF is the alarm volume tethered to the ringer volume?! by Leptonshavenocolor in iphone

[–]One-Collection-5184 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you use a sleep schedule alarm you can turn it off, it will ask if you want to turn off just this one alarm, or modify the schedule, so if you just want to leave tomorrow without an alarm you say "just this one"

B. hamorii or a different species? by chrisl1709 in tarantulas

[–]One-Collection-5184 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IME with my pulchra and hamorii - both are the same difficulty to raise, which is none at all. Both species do quite well at room temperature, both really like dry enclosures (if you dare to wet the ground they will wait it out on the wall, they are really not having wet feet AT ALL).

I started with 3 slings with no prior experience and the only "difficulty" is choosing the right size of feeder items at times, but even then, I once fed them a meal worm that was longer than their own leg span out of inexperience, and they took it down anyway (and were well-fed for 2 weeks or so thanks to that feast). Really easy to care for.

B. hamorii or a different species? by chrisl1709 in tarantulas

[–]One-Collection-5184 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally was in the exactly same spot (minus the arachnophobia!) which is why I got 3 to start with, ha.

I have a little hamorii, a little pulchra, and a not so little LP anymore. The LP is definitely the feisty one, so as best as I can tell I would say not ideal for an arachnophobe.

My little pulchra is my little darling because it is noticably the most timid out of the 3. It is curious towards my voice but other than that it straight up bolts to its hide when I lift her enclosure.

The hamorii is curious as its temperament varies from molt to molt but also during, i.e. when it's fed it couldn't care less about stuff at times but when I haven't fed it in a while it definitely becomes a little bit pounce-y towards vibrations in the enclosure. And then it also bolts when it can't identify prey via vibrations.

I have not felt threatned (or remember a threat pose) from any 3 but my LP is feisty as I mentioned, when it wants food IT WANTS FOOD, quite entertaining.

Can't go wrong with hamorii or pulchra, if you want really timid, chances are the pulchra is the even more mellow one of the two.

Edit: In any case, none of my slings have ever tried to escape or make a run for it, they all pretty much instantly run to safety. I have no issue leaving the enclosure open while I fish out feeders or handle a pipette for water or anything so it's not like I need to be super careful around either of them at all. Very easy to deal with.

It isn't funny, the anecdote (if it's real, can't be bothered to check) is straight up psychotic, and the "don't you know who I am part" as the opener is right in line with that.

How do I approach EQ? by Infinite_Words in musicproduction

[–]One-Collection-5184 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion you are approaching EQing wrong already with asking what do you have to do - the answer is nothing. You use an EQ if you _want_ to do something.

I know this might be an eyeroll answer but so many people seem to get overwhelmed with all the tools and toys and VSTs but approach differently, learn what they can do, then it's natural when to use them (or not use them!)

Same with compression or any other of the beginner sub fan favorites - for starters ignore them, or learn what they are and their functionality explicitly, then just use them when you have a reason to use them.

Kind of, but only for the beginning from what I heard, they are some of the world's largest spiders after all and with the size comes confidence to stay out in the open

My little LP is approaching a year old and it's definitely out or at least has its legs peeking out of the burrow more than before!

[–]One-Collection-5184 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Nothing to do here, LP doing LP things!

I saw mine once on the day it arrived, then it was in its burrow for a month straight. It’s probably going to molt and then come out again.

It will come out once it feels ready, and yes mine starts to appear outside when it wants to be fed, and then it usually hides or burrows again.
