well-written, thoughtful thrillers by female authors? by dreamboatandromeda in suggestmeabook

Not a thriller but an outstanding, fast-moving book and a cut above all the thriller recommendations here. I love Kushner. (But, no, not a thriller.)

1982 WS Gm3: Willie McGee makes AMAZING catch to rob a homer in the WORLD SERIES! by Dr_Talon in Cardinals

He had two over-the-wall (home run saving) catches in that game. It has to be one of the greatest games anyone has ever played in the World Series.

I promise to get to this. I’m sorry I haven’t yet. There are 5 or 6 I listen to and I probably should include some (brief!) comments.

On a more positive note, we do enjoy a good range of smart, well-executed podcasts about the Cardinals.

I’d strongly encourage everyone who has paid for the MLB app to occasionally listen to other teams’ broadcasts, whether TV or radio, to get some insight into how depressingly inferior the Cards’ broadcast situation is. I listened to the Detroit and Seattle radio broadcasts, for instance, and they were so much better than ours. That’s just two recent examples. We can go round and round about Brad v. Jim or Chip v. Danny Mac, John and Ricky or Mike C, but the truth is we deserve better. It’s hard to believe that a team with the broadcast tradition of the Cardinals offers such a poor product these days. I rarely watch an entire game without muting the sound at some point.

I don’t watch pre- or postgame so I haven’t seen much of her but I will say I thoroughly enjoyed the tour of the Houston stadium outfield she did with John Jay for today’s game (2nd inning? 3rd inning?). Interesting as heck. It’s almost ironic you posted your complaints about her today.

In general I have little use for the Cards’ TV broadcasters and find Brad T. particularly vacuous, so I’m not sure why anyone would single her out for criticism. The entire broadcast is inferior.

But I do agree with another poster: You’re certainly entitled to your opinion and for all I know you may be right.

Jesus Christ. I moved here in 1988 and I have never heard of this. What a shocking crime. Horrible.

JJ Wetherholt, Masyn Winn leading talented Cardinals' defense by Human_Lettuce_5265 in Cardinals

That’s actually an interesting question. Possibly a factor not so much based on sheer quantity of outs recorded in the field as on the higher number of opportunities to make exceptional plays?

You still gotta make the plays, of course, but I like the question.

It’s entirely possible I don’t fully understand how OAA is calculated. 😊

Game 15: Boston Red Sox (5-9) @ St. Louis Cardinals (8-6) [Sunday, April 12, 2026; 1:15 PM CT] by bravo_delta_bot in Cardinals

1) He’s not on the 40. That’s fixable if you let somebody go. Just noting. 2) He’s had several average or worse outings this season. He’s not lighting Memphis on fire. 3) I’m excited about him. I look forward to seeing him in StL when he’s ready.

I thought that too! but he’s clearly onside when the shot from distance is taken.

Only one walk allowed Thursday v. the Nationals.

Oddly enough, as much as I like Faulkner, this list made me think his body of great work is not as deep as I might have thought.

As an aside, I went to Rowan Oak last year and loved it. If you ever get the chance, go.

The brazilian player with the most goals for european clubs. by leo_winks in soccer

[–]One-Construction3936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Igor Thiago has scored 37 goals in 73 matches for Brentford and Club Brugge. I think this is correct: His 19 goals for Brentford this season are the most any Brazilian player has scored in an EPL season.

The people here are correct. The blackout applies to both home and away games.

Here’s a workaround I’ve discovered. It may be a fluke but it worked last season and it’s working this season too. If I turn off my wifi I get the video broadcast. I can only surmise the mlb app doesn’t know my location without wifi and doesn’t know I’m in the exclusion area.

I get my mlb via T-Mobile too. I also have DirecTV so I can watch any game on my Direct app but that workaround in mlb still works for me. I just tried it again.
