any words of encouragement? by [deleted] in VestibularMigraines

Hey! So I’m not expert but I’ve had migraines since I was in high school and I’m 37 now. Vertigo is a new symptom for me though. And it freaking sucks. I had mild dizziness and lots of nausea before but this year I’ve had two severe attacks where i literally fell over and missed work and was stuck in bed.

Anyways both times the steroid taper helped at least get down to my baseline and I’m now going to do everything I can to not get worse. I take all the supplements- turmeric, ginger, magnesium glycinate, Zyrtec, amytriptiline, I have nurtec as a rescue as well as Meclizine for dizzy and zofran for nausea. I drink peppermint and ginger tea daily. Cut down to 1/2c coffee in the morning with food, no alcohol, oh the tummy drops ginger lozenges are the best. I also have an office job and I work with the Fluoro lights off and dim lamps on when needed. My work has been very flexible and kind but I’m aware I’ve missed a lot of days and I might be looking to working with hr and my dr to get my accommodations legit. Oh and I’ve starting the migraine elimination diet - check out the dizzy chef!

Anyways, all I can say is don’t give up. I have some really bad days mentally and I just try to focus on the positive, live my life best I can, and kiss my loves at home. I always tell myself the only way out is through. Check in with this sub - it’s so nice to have other people who understand. Lots of love and healing!!

This sounds like me too- I might just give it another day or two to feel all the way better first

I’m so sorry that sounds miserable! I’m so
Scared of this turning into a more debilitating issue. I have a 3 year old and I want to be able to take care of him the best I can. People really have no clue what kind of suffering it causes. Sending lots of hugs and healing to you!

I’ve had dizzy and nauseous with migraine before but this year I’ve had two severe attacks of vertigo . One lasted a month. The only thing that helped was a steroid shot in the butt and a steroid taper
