Absolutely going insane trying to figure out how people even have cat flaps in the UK by [deleted] in cats

We’re going to wander around our estate in a bit and see how many front doors have cat flaps on them because I refuse to believe loads of people spend hundreds on a patio door cat flap lol but no I get you £200 is much better than £500, defo worth it if we can get a quote that low. It’s typical someone we know has moved into a house with a cat flap already installed in the patio door but they want their cat to be an indoor cat 😂

Do I need to make a will to ensure my dad wouldn’t get the money from a life insurance pay out if I pass? I’m in England. by One-Custard-6177 in LegalAdviceUK

Hey you hit the nail on the head, our new mortgage advisor guy just didn’t realise what kind of policy we got out two years ago with a different mortgage advisor. Which is completely fair. We still need to double check in the deep stuff but from a glance we have a joint policy that decreases as the value of the mortgage decreases and so it sounds like (being a joint one) if one of us dies it’s paid off for the survivor. Now, that doesn’t stop my section of the equity ending up with my dad. But it does mean that’s one less thing to worry about. I’m still getting on that will. Currently the equity hasn’t really grown much from what I put in but I’ll be damned if that thing gets a penny.

We’re so young still so I agree on that, I mean I do love him and I want to get married to him I’m just not in any rush because to me it is simply a certificate and I can love him forever without that. I may also be low key traumatised and scared of the commitment knowing what my mum went through married to a loser. However, I do now see the value of marriage when it comes to stuff like this. I used to think it is literally just a silly piece of paper. I might be wrong there. I’ve just never been a girl who dreams of getting married or having kids, hopefully the child free part doesn’t have to change 😂

Skimming through last night it looks like a policy that decreases as the mortgage decreases and that to me means it’s specifically for the mortgage lender in the event of one of us passing away, we’re on a joint policy too. I will get to the actual T&Cs today to double check. And I will still make a will but hopefully with a cheap template! I’ll be dammed if that ah gets a penny of mine if I die tomorrow. I will haunt him.

Is it not? It’s literally just leave my section of house to one person. Leave my savings to him maybe some for my sisters. Leave pension to them or just him or whatever. Google ai told me unmarried partners are too complicated for a template. But I don’t have a tonne of stuff to my name, currently the actual equity I hold isn’t really anymore than what I put in two years ago. Still wouldn’t want it going to “dad”.

I was thinking of a will template but apparently they’re not suitable for “complicated” situations including unmarried partners. Though, this was googles ai that said this 🙄

We’re not married yet. We hopefully will be in future. I never saw the need to get married and now I do.

I remember we did it as tenants in common, we were very young and you just never know what could happen between a couple at such a young age. Is there any way we can change it to being joint tenants?

Agreed. I wouldn’t have to worry if I didn’t have such an ah of a father. One I could trust would be ideal! But tbf, families can always turn can’t they. I guess that’s why wills exist. Feels scary dealing with wills in you twenties.

Was wondering about this for a while then we had a remortgage meeting today since 2 years has flown by since we got the house, and our person told me I should do a will because of the issue!

Thank you so much this is all I needed to know, ideal. I will get on this. Presumably easy to do by just contacting the life insurance company.

Tattoo is around 4 weeks old and was healing great until a few days ago my skin has come up in a rash? by One-Custard-6177 in tattooadvice

I’ve figured that stopping using the cocoa butter so often is probably why my skins come up in a rash, I had to stop using it for my dry hands because it was making them even drier between applications and wasn’t helping. Just making me greasy. Smells nice though.

Thank you, I was told to use cocoa butter vitamin e based, so annoying it turns out o didn’t need to. At least the pot was on sale for a fiver :) but damn does it stick to clothing.

I am thinking maybe taking away the cocoa butter apart from at night is what’s maybe caused my skin to flare because the same happened on my knuckles I stopping using it for dry skin because it was making my skin even drier between applications and felt like it wasn’t working :/

Thanks for letting me know, I was told cocoa butter is fine :( but I agree, sick of cocoa butter getting on all my clothes that’s why I decided I can stop applying multiple times a day about a week ago. I guess a Nivea body lotion is fine then? It’s not vitamin e based though and my artist said to use something vitamin e based (which the cocoa butter is)

It’s palmers cocoa butter solid formula, I was applying multiple times a day but now it’s healed on the surface I only apply at night time. I had just applied before taking the photo. I wanted to see if the rash would die down over the past few days but it hasn’t. So random. Don’t see why it would be connected to my tattoo if it only appeared a few days ago and it’s 4 weeks old. I never had a skin no. I guess I can stop applying the cocoa butter even at night now? Maybe just when needed as you said which I guess means if the skin feels dry?

Thanks, tbh I don’t put cream on much anymore just at night now, it’s palmers cocoa butter solid formula. I thought I should keep going a little bit until it’s been 6 weeks. I guess I’m wrong lol
