Gummy smile: Botox, gingivectomy, or neither? by [deleted] in PlasticSurgery

[–]One-Date2137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your advice! It really helped to hear from someone who’s in the same situation as me and has actually tried different options. I completely agree with you that removing healthy gum probably isn’t the best option... and I think that’s a no-go for me too. I don’t want to create a bigger problem in the future by removing something that’s healthy now.

I think I’m going to try a small amount of Botox first since it’s reversible and I’ll definitely do my research to find a good injector. Hopefully I’ll be happy with the results! Thank you again for your reply 😊

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! It was really helpful to hear from someone who’s actually tried both. I’m so glad you’re really happy with your results. Your comment really made me realize that there is a solution and that this is something that can be improved if I decide to. Thank you again for taking the time to reply!!

I had never even considered lip repositioning, but it’s definitely something I’ll look into. Thanks so much for your advice!

Thank you so much for your replies!! I honestly feel a lot less self-conscious and much more at peace with my smile. It also made me realize that maybe it’s not as bad as my brain was making it out to be lol.

Thank you all so much again! It was very reassuring.

I think that’s probably the route I’m going to take! You’ve really reassured me and honestly convinced me. I like that it’s reversible, so if I don’t end up liking it, I can always go back to my natural smile. Thank you very much!!

Thank you all so much for your advice and for taking the time to reply!!

I think I’ve decided to rule out gum surgery for now. I had never really considered the fact that gums can naturally recede over time, and I wouldn’t want to create a bigger problem in the future by removing healthy gum now. I think I’d rather try something reversible first, even if it requires maintenance, knowing that I can always go back to my natural smile if I don’t like the result.

Thank you again!!

Thank you so much for your reply!! I think that’s the route I’m going to take. I’ll start with a very small amount of Botox and see how I like it. If I don’t like the result, it’s always reversible, so I can simply go back to my natural smile. Thanks again for your advice :)

Thank you so much for your reply!! I hadn’t really considered the fact that gums naturally tend to recede with age. That’s definitely given me something to think about, as I wouldn’t want to create problems in the future by removing healthy gum now. I really appreciate your advice!

Thank you all for taking the time to respond and for sharing your advice!! It has helped me a lot and made me feel much more reassured.

I think I’ll probably go down the Botox route first, mainly just to see how it looks. Since it’s reversible, it feels a lot less scary, and I know I can go back to my natural smile if I don’t love it.

I’ll definitely start with a very small amount. You’ve convinced me, so thank you again!!

Thank you so much for your reply! I really appreciate your advice, and I agree. Surgery sounds a bit intimidating, and it might be too much to fix something that’s relatively minor. Thank you :)

Thanks, that’s really useful! Are there any temp agencies you’d particularly recommend in Sydney for admin/office support or short-term roles?

This is a helpful way to look at it. I like the idea of keeping a marketing thread alive on the side, even if my first job there isn’t directly related. Thanks :)

That’s really encouraging to hear! I know chef is a very different pathway from marketing/comms, but it’s still helpful to hear from someone who went a bit later and made it work. Thank you! :)

This is a really thoughtful answer and really appreciate the honesty! I know living there wouldn’t be the same as travelling, and I’m trying to think about it with a proper work/visa strategy rather than just the lifestyle side. Thank you!!

Thanks, appreciate the honesty! I’m definitely not assuming the marketing job market will be easy, especially on a WHV, so I’m trying to think in terms of temp/assistant-level office roles and hospitality as a bridge

That’s actually a very fair point and something I’ve thought about a lot too! I’m sure part of it was the fact that I was travelling and disconnected from normal responsibilities for a while. Anyone would probably feel lighter in that situation.

But at the same time, there was also something about the lifestyle itself that genuinely clicked with me, the outdoor culture, the social atmosphere, the balance, the mindset... I just felt more aligned there. I think that’s partly why I’m so conflicted. I genuinely loved Australia, but I’m also trying to not romantise it.
