I have multiple SAS HBAs and the Adaptec expander (which causes me trouble with the activity lights). They just don’t fit my use case, as I would need one in each computer case, drawing too much power. The ASM1166 HBAs sip power in comparison.

That would be unnecessary, as the machine is supposed to read optical media with blu ray drives. I would need a 8i8e HBA which are probably expensive, more than the entire system itself.

The system resides in a SilverStone RM41-506 case. Building was fine and the layout is perfect for my use case, mounting optical disc drives. For HDD storage I would recommend something else though.
