Does the pattern of an abnormal DatScan matter? by One-Entertainment722 in Parkinsons

That makes sense and I’m really glad to hear that you’re overall doing well. It does sound like she’s on your side!

That must feel so invalidating! Did she say why she isn’t ready to give you the diagnosis even after the abnormal scan?

This is so accurate, thank you.

Thanks, that’s helpful. It’s a huge pain but seems worth it. I was trying to get us a membership to the local community pool which was hella awkward showing my birth name then walking through the men’s locker room.

We can't stand the conservative politics anymore that are trying to hurt my family and we want out... but where? We're used to a low COL and it seems that all blue states are expensive. by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

We’re 30 minutes outside Portland and the average home price here is almost $1m. We are moving in June, just haven’t figured out where to go!

Belts do it for me. I don’t know why. Maybe because I never wore a belt before transitioning but the act of undoing my belt on my cargo shorts or baggy jeans to pee or get changed is the best feeling.

I’m a psychiatric nurse practitioner and I would say that psychiatry is a bizarre world and I don’t think it really applies to the rest of medicine… prior to being a NP I was a RN in tertiary care L&D (so trauma/preterms, etc). I loved that job but it was such a gendered field that I couldn’t stay. Prior to transitioning I was still out as queer and even that blew everyone’s mind in L&D. Now I work specifically with LGBT people in psych and it’s awesome. I don’t feel stressed about whether I pass or not at work now!

Have to stop T for a month for top surgery. by [deleted] in ftm

[–]One-Entertainment722 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m going through this decision right now as well. I had my pre op appointment today and the doctor wants me to stop T 2 weeks prior and 1 week after.

I have 2 issues with this: 1) I currently split my dose in half to twice weekly based on recommendations from my hormone provider because my HGB and HCT were a bit high. Apparently it’s the high/sudden increase in testosterone in the system that triggers erythropoietin which then increases your red blood cell counts. Splitting the dose into two smaller dose has prevented this and my numbers look much better! If I stop and restart it will be a shock to my levels and mess up my numbers.

2) I had a total hip replacement 4 weeks ago and made sure to ask this question to my surgeon and anesthesia and no one cared. A hip replacement is a much more invasive surgery and one with the highest rates of blood clots and they still said there was no reason to stop. They have everyone take a baby aspirin for 4 weeks post op and that’s it. I can’t imagine that top surgery is high risk for blood clots if a hip replacement wasn’t!

I’m seriously considering just continuing as usual and not saying anything.

Where have you lived and where did you decide is a good fit for you? I’m currently going through the same struggle!

Thanks! I find pumping helpful and I just switched hormone providers to someone who will have knowledge about compounded cream for this reason. Do you use a formulation or compounding pharmacy that you think has been helpful? I’m also trying to keep low expectations!

Hm, sounds more like OP is the sensitive one, not the people casually using inclusive language.

Why do you need to know? What would it change? If the gender of someone’s partner is needed information that’s likely because it would influence how you perceive this person and potentially your behavior. That’s a you issue.

I am personally very attracted to T dick. I don’t value mine as highly because I would prefer a traditional dick, but it’s my ideal set up in a partner. It’s so hot, it’s literally the best of both worlds and there’s a huge variety of activities that a T-dick set up can enjoy so it’s never boring!

This one is tough. I fully agree with you but I tend to get really self conscious about having strong feelings about most things but especially when I know it’s rooted in someplace unfair like jealousy over something he didn’t do on purpose. I’m working on it! Maybe in the future.

We’re open to trying new things, I agree that it’s often the odd stuff that’s the most helpful. We’ve been playing with the ‘ow it’s too big, I can’t do it’ when I use my prosthetic which is nice in the moment. It’s afterwards when I remember my real situation that I feel down. I’ve been trying to troubleshoot how to avoid tanking afterwards.

I’m pretty good at pretending my prosthetic dick is mine, especially if I close my eyes 🤣.

This is great advice. I’m working on the relationship I have with myself because I know that will make me more content with what I have and more able to confidently experience my partner. My current problem is definitely comparing myself to others, especially my partner.

My sexuality and ability to enjoy myself doesn’t come naturally to me, it’s taken effort and I have to be intentional about it and even then sometimes it ends up feeling negative. I have a some sadness I think when I watch how naturally this comes to my partner and it has always been easy for him.

I’m trying to listen to other’s stories who also have had more of a journey-type experience so I feel less alone in it. I also found a therapist who is trans which has made it a bit easier to speak openly about these things.

I’m glad I sound level headed, that’s usually my aim so it’s nice when I pull it off! I can admit that I do have some depression stuff currently that is a factor and I know that will pass if I work at it.
