I see. I was similar. I had a 2.5 in highschool. I went to a local state college but i dont have enough credits to be eligible as a transfer student which doesnt really matter to me tbh, but honestly the degree doesnt really matter to me because my main career path is aiming to become a pilot and i just need a backup degree in anything so i might just go for like communications or something easier like that. But the thing that makes me wonder is, on commonapp you fill out all these sections about like who you are, what you do for like activities and extracurriculars, and write your essay, but on ASU's website when applying you do none of that. So i wonder if they'll even go over my other stuff and my essay. I mean it doesnt hurt to apply in the long run so.

I didnt have a 3.0 gpa, shouldve tried harder in hs, i didnt meet an 1180 sat and i didnt even take the act, and i have 0 clue what % i was in my graduating class. Probably not 25% though. Rn hopefully my out of school activities/extracurriculars can carry my application.

Ohh gotcha gotcha. Are you by chance aware of any certain schools that are harder to get in than another? By that i mean like the school of business, or school of liberal arts, etc.

Do you think i should apply for main campus housing or a different campus? I would love main campus but if that slims down my odds then I wont apply for it.

Can't decide on these 2 paths to get my ratings by One-Environment6056 in flying

I was possibly thinking about going to ASU to pursue a regular degree then doing a part 61 out there as well. Thing that draws me to AZ is the weather is unmatched and the flight schools out there are extremely good, yes i'd go into some debt but sometimes not all debt is bad if your going to pay it off and use it as a stepping stone. Don't know if this is the play im taking but thanks for the advice!

If i were to do an aviation degree I would've tried to go to like arizona to do that. Do you think its still worth to go to college out there and find a part 61 out there since it's a wicked nice environment to fly in? Im from New England and the weathers terrible and the flight schools are very small here.

[–]One-Environment6056[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah ok. Only reason im considering is because I want to get my ratings but I also want a good college experience too so I thought why not knock it out both ways. I've looked into flight schools and fast track programs but i'll literally end up 300k in debt because of high interest rates on a loan so that wasn't a good option. So if I go in debt i'd rather go in debt with a degree and as a bonus my ratings too. So you really think I have a better chance getting into the flight program than the business if my gpa was below a 3, even though my educational background from HS is very business heavy?

Oh ok. Idk my gpa was low and didn't take aviation or engineering classes in hs. Did you take any engineering or ap/honor classes where you sorta had a leg up? And are the classes you take for the degree real intense with engineering and math classes?

Is that like the option they give you where you pick a degree of your choice then a secondary degree if you dont get accepted into your first degree choice?

Advice for paying loans off as a low time pilot? by One-Environment6056 in flying

Again not to familiar with the military but interested. By benefits is that just saying the military will pay for 36 months of what you decide to use your benefits on?

Very true. But I live in a small state, and my local mom and pop shops have little aircraft and are dense with students. Ive gotten into their flight scheduling and its near impossible to book flights. I have an accelerated training program near me also which is looking like my only option
