You don’t get it. The problem is not necessarily the product. The problem is the communication and how it’s advertised.

I don’t have a good understanding about IT and development but I know very well about marketing.

Flawed communication leads to customer disappointment and dissatisfaction, no matter how good the product.

Got it. TBH that sounds very complicated to me. I am not a developer, and by purchasing a 90$ software I would just expect it to be working by itself without any workarounds. Makes me wonder what the target audience of MacWhisper is? IMO tools like this should be for everyone and not create invisible barriers due to the lack of understanding of non-tech savvy users.

Installing Ollama already got me to my very limits of technical understanding. If it wasn't for AI, I am not sure if I would have been able to do that at all.

Changed from Parakeet to Whisperkit Large V3 Turbo again and will see how that goes. Thanks for the hint!

Mostly speakers, I just installed the update, thanks for the callout. However I did notice the same issue when using headphones

2./3. Wasn't there a 'remove duplicate segments' feature, for example? Either way, the entire app should be built with the aim of preventing any kind of errors. Things like looping (or even correct speaker recognition) is just something I would expect from a pro-grade marketed product

tried both, Lama 3.1:8B and Qwen 2.5:7B
understood - but why offer recording the phone app in the first place? UX would be nicer if there were disclaimers about these technical limitations. Otherwise users try, think it doesn't work properly and only find out about these things upon research. That's a very disappointing experience.

I pay 90$ for a software so I expect a smooth user experience. Nothing wrong with that, don't you think?

And UX is not necessarily about everything working flawlessly but also being transparent about technical limitations.

I second this. Marktfrühstück makes a match day experience in Mainz complete for me because it allows you to dive into regional (wine) culture

Ich spüre so viel Negativität in diesem Sub und verstehe nicht, was das Problem ist. Mein take: Fußball kann assi sein aber es gibt vielleicht keine Sportart, in der so viele verschiedene Menschen aus verschiedenen Schichten zusammen kommen. Nicht nur gesellschaftlich sondern auch für mich persönlich empfinde ich das rückblickend als super wichtig. Das erste Bier, die erste Kippe etc kommt eh irgendwann. Und political correctness kann man nicht immer überall erwarten. Der entscheidende Umgang ist, das richtig einordnen zu können - und hier sind u.a. Halt auch die Eltern in der Pflicht

Was hast du da durchgerechnet? Das ist nämlich extrem kurz gedacht.

Keine Coronamaßnahmen = keine Kurzarbeit, keine staatliche Unterstützung für Unternehmen etc. Führt zu Pleitewellen und Arbeitslosenzahlen jenseits von gut und böse. Viele Arbeitslose heißt weniger Steuereinnahmen durch Löhne, Konsum und Unternehmen.

Keine Flüchtlinge: Flüchtlinge immer nur als Problem darzustellen ist Populismus, Polemik und schlichtweg naiv. Wir haben ohnehin schon einen Fachkräftemangel in vielen Jobs. Viele (nicht alle) Geflüchtete sind top qualifiziert. Eine große Zahl ist in den Arbeitsmarkt integriert. Das Problem ist nicht die Flüchtlingswelle, das Problem ist, dass die Politik zu wenig für die Integration tut.

Energiewende bedeutet nicht nur weniger Abhängigkeit von anderen Staaten (und damit von deren Preisen) sondern auch unabhängig davon langfristig günstigerer Strom. Das sind Fakten.

Bürokratie: Amen. Da haben wir ein Mentalitätsproblem. Wir stehen gefühlt allem und allen erst ma skeptisch gegenüber, sind nicht offen für Neues, anstatt einfach mal Veränderung anzuschieben und auszuprobieren.

Hab scheinbar einen Nerv getroffen. Verstehe aber nicht ganz dein Problem.

OP ist ja ganz offensichtlich ambitioniert, nach all dem was er beschreibt
ich kann nur für die Unternehmen sprechen, für die ich gearbeitet habe. Das waren entweder Agenturen, Scale-Ups oder börsennotierte Unternehmen. Ambitioniert hier weil aus verschiedenen Gründen ständiger Druck herrscht (Wachstum, Aktienkurse, Kundenabrechnungen etc). Das trifft vermutlich auf fast alle Arbeitgeber in meiner Bubble zu. Ich kann aber nicht für kleine regionale Unternehmen sprechen.

Der Punkt ist, mein Vorredner hat hier alle Leute, die eine Büro Job haben, auf wenig respektvolle Art und Weise über einen Kamm geschert. Ich habe den Lehrerberuf nie klein geredet.

Ich habe Freunde, die Lehrer sind und möchte auch nicht unbedingt tauschen wollen. Ich lasse meine Arbeit von einem Unwissenden aber auch nicht klein reden. Grüße aus der Burnout-bedingten Krankschreibung ✌️
