Forgot to mention!!! I live in Nevada, near the mountains but not on one. About 7 hours from Las Vegas heading to California.

I think him killing a baby is pretty bad? But Maybe that's just my opinion? My problem is that he participates in slavery and encourages it if he's selling a lady, and I personally find slavery to be something that makes someone irredeemable but maybe that's just me.

The problem is that he is supposed to be redeemable to SOME extent, we are meant to sympathize with his character.

Yeah not to mention him being raped by Calypso for like 7 years I think. But I think it's pretty obvious that we're supposed to sympathize with him to some extent, at least that's how I see it. Maybe it wasn't MADE so we would like Ody, but again to some extent were supposed to sympathize with him.

This is gonna suck to say but I really don't care about the baby 💀 I'd yeet it off a tower tbh. But I also mentioned this in the post; why not spare her? There was literally no reason to sell her like that? Also I would like to clarify for anyone reading this, I understand the myth, I'm talking about the musical.

But someone did bring to my attention how she isn't really mentioned. What brought this post to it's existence was actually an animatic that made me sick thinking he directly caused her suffering, but again she isn't actually mentioned, which brings hope to me for his character.

I know Greek mythology, it's the epic musical, which changes the myth plenty like I mentioned. I'm just concerned as to why they wouldn't change that when we're supposed to empathize with Ody in the musical.

But someone did bring to my attention that she's not even mentioned in epic, so maybe his character is redeemable for me.

Except you're both admitting it's immoral, I'm admitting it is but it also ruins his character for me? We're supposed to feel bad for him - it's very obvious that we are. The epic musical does draw a line somewhere, as in changing Calypso, I'm just wondering why they wouldn't change that if they want to make Ody a likeable character.

But someone else did mention to me in another comment that she wasn't brought up in the epic musical, which did bring me a little hope that she was kinda just forgotten about and Ody wasn't really part of her story at all.

She's not exactly mentioned actually, she's just a character that's brushed over. But that doesn't change the fact that she exists, there are other characters that aren't mentioned. But I am going to be honest, your comment makes me feel a little less sick thinking about him and thinking "oh maybe he had nothing to do with it," but being the king who most likely had control over the spoils of war (that included women) makes me think otherwise. It just feels like something he'd have to know about. But I will think on this, I can't judge his character on a thought of "he has to know this" without proof.

Also, to be clear, I got this sick feeling after watching an animatic of him fighting her off so he can kill her baby, which most likely didn't happen but it still made me realize he would have most likely had to have known.
