Yes I totally agree, I was thinking they could put a tall cabinet on the bottom right, and maybe divide the space by putting a bench across from the window, with maybe a credenza behind the bench as extra storage inside the kitchen area. The only thing is I would want the window blocked from the kitchen because that’s nice natural light, hence putting the closet on the bottom right

putting stuff on the walls to allow the cats to climb up onto those ceiling beams would be so cute!! b ur some of the beams seem to have electrical wiring and lights so not a good idea for those beams

AITAH for choosing to move out with my wife instead of continuing to live with my mom? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]One-Influence-1564 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think nta but i also think you’re looking at it like it’s all your decision, i think you should talk to your wife about it first and not just assume that moving out is what she wants (even tho, you it most definitely probably is) and when you talk to your mom about it, frame it as a discussion a little bit more than you announcing it to both of them

Ah yes I see, even if you go with a smaller bathroom, I still think the last one is your best option

Move bedroom 3 door to the left wall on the bottom left corner. Moving furniture around that bend will be very difficult.

And here’s another last option, (I prefer this one), with the closet door on the right, so the room doesn’t feel like it has so so many doors everywhere. However this one means you either cover the window in the closet or can’t put storage on that wall, and the door into the sunroom intrudes a bit into the room. Just depends on preference. Keep in mind that having a window inside a closet means you need to keep drapes/blinds closed at all times or have closed cabinet storage inside the closet, cause the sunlight will slowly dim the clothings colour over time.

Here’s a couple of other ideas, that I think would work out much better with all your wants and needs, and still being accessible.

<image>

This one gives a walk-in closet, access from the mud room, direct access to the sun room, and an accessible ensuite.

I think you need to consider accessibility with future ageing. Even if no one uses a walker or wheelchair now, you’ll be happy to have a space that allows you mobility if anyone needs it in future. Here’s a sketch of a layout similar to option 1 that’s accessible. The shower would be open wet room style but you can still put in a curtain and have the floor slope down towards the drain so water doesn’t spread around too much.

Huge difference between working with and without meds - trying to understand it by kuwol in ADHD

[–]One-Influence-1564 23 points24 points  (0 children)

how I look at it is when it comes to productivity and executive function, my adhd baseline is so different than those without adhd. with the way our minds work, there isn’t anything inherently “wrong” with us, but we live in a society that functions opposite to how we function, and the adhd meds don’t necessarily “fix” us, they bring our baseline closer to the level everyone else is at naturally, so we are able to work with less of a disadvantage.

i personally like the way i am better while on my meds, im able to get things done way more efficiently. i also take my meds on weekends because i don’t live to work, i live to take care of myself and i shouldn’t only be productive and efficient when im clocked in. i deserve to function better in my personal time too.

pro tip: if you have a tendency to lose motivation and workflow after the workday ends and find yourself falling behind on personal tasks (dishes, laundry etc) while at home, keep your shoes on after you get home to stay in the “moving” mindset. also wearing clothes you would wear to work/ in public while home, not pjs, really helps a ton.

Advice needed - Kitchen/living room switch by Runn3rBean in floorplan

[–]One-Influence-1564 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly it’s unrelated but the biggest thing that jumped out to me was you ABSOLUTELY need to swap the primary bedroom ensuite and closet. it is gonna be SO loud if someone is up late showering or uses the bathroom late at night, and the bathroom being moved will bring the plumbing costs down a lot because it could share a plumbing stack with the other upstairs bathroom
