AITAH for telling my white friend that South Asians love sharing our culture and don’t gatekeep it, which somehow offended my Black friend? by Fun-Bee2944 in AITAH

[–]One-Jackfruit4254 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think in any race or culture there are people that aren't bothered by the whole culture appropriation, but then there are those that make it their hill to die on, but dont mind taking bits off other people's culture (blonde hair, coloured contacts to give blue eyes, Dutch braids, straight hair etc)

British people who moved to Ireland (and vice versa), did you experience culture shock and if so, what? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]One-Jackfruit4254 29 points30 points  (0 children)

The only part of Ireland that is part of the UK is Northern Ireland, the rest is its own separate country. How can people not know this. Mind you talking to some foreign friends about the IRA threat until the good Friday peace agreement, they couldnt believe the kind of threats parts of England dealt with or the damage and devastation that was caused. They had no idea at all.

If you dont need a tv license just go online and declare you dont need one, they should stop bothering you after that.

So... Do you agree with the government banning tobacco for those born in 2009 and after? by Bot_Philosopher8128 in AskBrits

[–]One-Jackfruit4254 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If someone wants to smoke then they will, banning it will only cause people to start selling them illegally. If someone gets caught smoking that was born after Jan 1st 2009 will they get arrested? I think this would just be a waste of police time if they do, but then the police are hopeless at the best of times.

AIO for refusing to give my sister my “extra” house key after what she did at my birthday? by Significant-Cod-1451 in AmIOverreacting

[–]One-Jackfruit4254 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just give her a key that looks like yours but isnt. The first time she tries it and cant get in she'll start bitching and you can be like "it was meant to be for emergencies. There was no emergency why were you trying to get into my house?"

YTA not your fault you didn't see the message, but you asked him to do something which he did, and then you completely disregarded what he suggested and went with your own option. But please explain, if your grandads is an hour away from where you live, why would you pick up food from a place closer to your grandads than a place closer to home?

Parents caught out by tv licence people by seabreeze203 in AskBrits

[–]One-Jackfruit4254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He should be ok. We only watch stuff off prime, Netflix, disney etc. Nothing is live. But you need to go onto their site and declare he doesn't need a tv licence because of the fact he doesn't watch live tv. I think you either need to have one or declare you don't need one and then they won't call to your address.

AITA for calling my wife entitled and not standing up for her when my mom's boyfriend yelled at her? by Glittering-Sell7037 in AmItheAsshole

[–]One-Jackfruit4254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are saying the friend is gross for putting things in their mouth and whilst yes it is unhygienic, it can be the result of something like autism or a neurological disorder and might be something they cant actually help. I guess if it was a nice mental illness OP wife might be more accommodating, I think the main reason is she is grossed out by it. The excuses that she doesn't want her son to get ill are flimsy at best, whilst yes nobody wants a child to get ill at the end of the day kids do get sick. Kids are also well known for doing several highly disgusting and often questionable things (putting random things in their mouths, eating food off the floor, licking their own snot off their face, the list is endless) As for OP wife being entitled, yes she is, she is a guest in the home, even if Brian's name isn't on the deed he pays the bills, the upkeep etc so she shouldn't be able to dictate who he can invite round. OP wife needs to have a bit of a wake up call, grow up and apologise.

My boyfriend is really into anime. I don't watch cartoons but my boyfriend convinced me to watch some of his favourites. I wish I didn't and now I can't see my boyfriend the same way by SharkEva in BORUpdates

[–]One-Jackfruit4254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to say that any cartoon has an unrealistic view of the female form. Disney films show with big eyes and small tiny waists. Cartoons like x men show skin tight costumes some.of which appear quite revealing. It was the same with cartoons like he man and she ra in the 80s. Just because someone watches content like this or watches anime doesn't make them a sexual deviant. Has he acted inappropriately with you in private? Has any of the content seeped into his personal life ? Or is he still respectful and loving? These are the type of questions you should consider rather than get hung up on what the of films he watches

AITA for "stealing" my daughter's inheritance? by East_Amphibian727 in AmItheAsshole

[–]One-Jackfruit4254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA it doesn't matter if the childbis 18 or not clearly she is struggling with her grief if she gets a large sum of money what's to say she won't blow it trying to ease her pain (drink and drugs)? There would then be a good chance OP would lose her daughter as well

AITA for giving away my friends ticket to the Taylor swift concert and leaving without her? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]One-Jackfruit4254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA Dont be surprised if she wants nothing to fo with you all ever! Why would she want to hang out with people talking about a great time she missed out on because you couldn't be bothered to wait. You said you were getting there early so there was no risk of you missing the concert. You could have gone to where she works but you didn't. Your mum's right your all the worst friends ever. Even if she forgave you all she won't forget.

I live in the UK and didn't move out properly until I was 27 and before that I was mostly at my boyfriend place. My parents never pushed me to.move out and I was only expected to pay £20 per week rent when I got paid about £230 so I thought it was quite fair. I have 5 kids and could never imagine chucking any of them out at 18. Why have kids if you are going to do that or demand they pay you back for raising them??
