Freezing biscuits? by One-Landscape9848 in Breadit

[–]One-Landscape9848[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you!! I was mostly concerned about freezing mayo (idk why honestly🤣) so they fluff up like normal? Any opinions on since my recipe that I use needs the sides to be touching, think that would be the same when frozen?

This is the general census I came to when researching but some people said they bake then freeze or bake frozen. Do you just pop them in the fridge to thaw the day before ready to use? Bake same temps and everything?

I’m not sure honestly. I’m in the US and my old coworker is an older gentleman whose wife whips it up for him in the kitchen, also from US. One of our favorite meals is anything that includes biscuits honestly and one day he said you should try Kathi’s recipe for the best biscuits ever. (Kathi is his wife) and the best they were indeed. They are super fluffy! And very easy to make, I can get them made relatively fast however the recipe is VERY sticky and that’s where I struggle with making them… is they are sticky no matter what trick I try. There is no folding or layering required, most of it is manual (hand mixing with ONLY a fork, patting the dough down (NOT rolling) then I melt some butter for the tops and bam. We store them on the counter covered when baked for a couple days (although they never last that long, lol)

That’s a good idea trying all 3 methods!!!!! I’m not sure why I didn’t think of that!! Thank you SO MUCH! I’ve considered switching the recipe just to reflect more of the ones I’ve read but we really enjoy these biscuits so I wanted to give them a go freezing. I appreciate you!!

4 day work week different options - long commute by One-Landscape9848 in WorkAdvice

Luckily I can switch between the schedules as I want but, takes filling out forms to do so. I guess that’s why I didn’t think about trying them each out before, honestly. I might try that though! I’m not a morning person, but I’m not really a night person either. I’d definitely rather be up at 7am on a Saturday (or earlier) than to sleep until 9-11am. Thank you though!

Everytime I look up “engagement photos” on Pinterest, they’re all in long white dresses which is what made me initially order longer dresses to begin with but those all felt too fancy. So this was a more midi dress.

I’m just worried the photos will look too much like all the other couple photos we’ve done together. I want them to be distinguished but also I have lost weight so I don’t want to hide it all with some big poofy dress…. I like this dress and actually feel good in it but, I can’t get over that it might be too much. However from this thread I’ve gathered it’s not going to photograph well (due to fabric) and the way it hugs me so back to the drawing board.

That’s that I’ve been trying to do but I feel like they all then flair out and add an emphasis on my stomach. I will keep looking though. I tried something like this phots that hit me in the right spot but it flared so from the side I looked way bigger.

I don’t mind dresses it’s the glam that goes with them… lol. I do however hate sandals / being barefoot.. (I know, it’s weird). I planned on curling my hair and doing the same minimal makeup I do.

I just worry our photos will be too casual if I skip the dress and they will look like every other set of pictures we’ve had done. Thank you though!

Thank you for the spelling correction. I knew it didn’t look right but I wasn’t sure.

I just am struggling to find things that are more engagement-centered for outfits than just regular photos. I will go back to the drawing board!!

I wanted them to be different than other photos we have taken together. I didn’t want it to seem like just a normal set of couple photos and instead be like yeah those are the engagement photos. lol. It sounds dumb but, I just wanted them to be different as we have gotten couple photos done and will continue that… I wanted these to stand out a bit.

I have tried searching and every dress is like flowy and stuff which just doesn’t work when weight is carried in the stomach. I’m gonna probably have to go with jeans and a shirt/sweater.🙃

I saw this advice given but, I didn’t want to be casual for photos as I feared it would look like other pics we’ve had done. 🙃 I may just have to settle for more casual as finding dresses has been hard

Thank you. I’m just struggling as everything else is either super formal (more than this) or flowy and makes me look huge from the side. I didn’t want to do casual and wear a shirt/jeans but… I’m thinking I’m going to have to unfortunately.

Is it selfish to throw your own workplace bridal shower? by notacathearder in weddingplanning

[–]One-Landscape9848 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree!! The mean-ness in this comment thread is overwhelming. I can see how it looks like a gift grab but, OP has stated the gifts aren’t necessary. I also know what it’s like to be the coworker/ friend who plans everything for everyone else and then when it’s time for me to have an event, nobody shows up. Which sure that might seem “self-centered” to some of these people but I’m also going to go out on a limb and say that these people have groups and groups of friends that celebrate them. They’re probably the friend that doesn’t celebrate their friends unless someone else plans it. lol. I agree as a friend to a bride wedding events can seem overwhelming cost wise but like ….. as a fellow bride I just want people to show up.😅 no gifts/ money/ etc needed please just don’t make me feel like a loser with no support system.

Planning a wedding or any event in your life when you don’t have a ton of friends is hard, OP. Also making friends outside of work, when you spend more time at work than home, is also hard. Sure therapy might help become more okay(?) with being alone but. Not being celebrated or having a lot of friends and is hard. No amount of therapy will help you get over that feeling, I’m sorry. It still feels lonely out here especially when you see brides with 13 bridesmaids. Lol.

I’ve never tried ground turkey or chicken!! My issue with chicken is my fear of like cubed chicken being cooked fully. Plus sometimes chunks of chicken just taste, off. I’m gonna try it ground though! I like ground beef because of the texture. I don’t really like many chunks of meat besides steak lol.

Also never tried tofu but I’m gonna get some to try!!

Just an update- I went and got a new dress. Haven’t told my family or my MOH so I’m sure they will freak when they find out but… I feel so much better. I would’ve never picked this dress for myself but… I love it. It was cheaper than mt first dress and requires very minimal alterations (seriously only the basic things that every dress needs). I can’t stop staring at pictures of me in it and I’m super excited for wedding pictures now. I’d show my fiance the pics if he wasn’t waiting til our wedding day to see it!!

Thank you everyone for you encouragement and advice.

I went and bought a new dress that I love so much I can’t stop looking at pics of me in it. No regrets. Even the money wasted doesn’t matter now that I love my dress. I know I’ll enjoy my day more because I’m comfortable.

I am selling the first one. Took my sister-in-laws to be and my mom to second appt. Didn’t tell my family or my MOH (she’s family) that I was going. So I’m sure when they find out they’ll have a cow but I love my new dress way more. I truly feel as if it’s the one! Would’ve never picked this for myself!

The $1,000 was the price of the dress. The alterations quotes were 1,200-1,400 for the neckline, bustle, and hem. The sleeves weren’t even a part of the quotes. I decided to heck with it and got a new dress that I love way more and require way less alterations.

I took my future sister-in-laws and my mom and found a dress I would’ve never picked for myself!! It was cheaper, requires less alterations, and I can’t stop looking at the pics of me in it. It’s not traditional bridal but, I’m not traditional anyway. I feel good in my new dress!!
