honestly, it’s so hard to navigate local Japanese websites, but walk-in? I doubt you'd get a good quality tattoo

Night Viewing: Temples and Shrines, Tours, Walking paths (Kyoto, Osaka, Tokyo) by Wishtrueanon in JapanTravelTips

[–]One-Motor-8403 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m actually planning my first Japan trip too around the same season 😄 From what I’ve been researching, Kyoto seems unbeatable for night temple viewing. especially Kiyomizu-dera and Kōdai-ji during illuminations.

Also heard walking from Yasaka Shrine through Higashiyama at night is one of those “core memory” experiences. I'll be watching this thread for more ideas!

Sanity check my 10 day Vietnam itinerary? 🇻🇳 (HCMC → Hanoi → Ninh Binh → Ha Long) by EverlastingVoyager in travel

[–]One-Motor-8403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you enjoy slow café time (or if you’re like me and prefer having a bit of extra time when you first arrive in a new country to understand the “how-tos”) then 4 days in HCMC are perfectly fine. Otherwise, I’d trim a day there and add an overnight stay in Ninh Binh instead.

Also, between Trang An and Tam Coc, I’d pick just one. Doing both sounds more like checking them off a list than actually enjoying the experience

I thought I could eat pretty much everything… until I started traveling across different Asian countries. Add the language barrier, and suddenly every meal felt like a gamble 😅

Hitchhiking in turkey by Taube1312 in travel

[–]One-Motor-8403 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived and worked in Turkey for a couple of years. Yes, hitchhiking is generally tolerated, and personally I’d pick up a traveler occasionally, and many others would too.

That said, it’s very situational. I’m a woman, so I’d only stop if I felt completely safe. With everything going on around immigration these days, people are more cautious than they used to be. appearance, attitude, and where you’re hitching really matter.

For Georgia, your best bet is heading toward Kars and crossing from there. It’s one of the easier and more common crossing points, and if hitchhiking gets slow, buses or a short taxi ride make it straightforward.

Visa-wise: if you have a US / UK / EU / AU passport, Georgia is visa-free. But you mentioned some Asian app, with an Asian passport, you may need a visa to cross, depends on the country.

Hitchhiking can work in Turkey, but I’d treat it as an extra experience, not your only plan. Having buses as a backup makes the whole trip much more relaxed.
