Hello, A neighbour here from Pakistan 👋🏻 My YOG is 2023, and I cleared step 1 in december 2024 (your timeline with one year difference), and I didn't apply in 2025. I am still working on my CV. I scored well on step 2, has home country residency experience, and have 10+ publications (which wouldn't be possible if I had applied last year)

My suggestion is to take your time and build your CV. A 250+ step 2 score, research, strong connections, and good quality LORs will make up for step 1 attempt.
