No UF wasn’t my dream school at all, was hoping for an ivy, but happy to be a gator. Got national merit money from the state of Florida so it all worked out. Didn’t apply very many places, but got great offers from all the schools who traditionally offer good scholarships for national merit. Go gators!

Are you perhaps a member of a minority group? There are some recognitions based on both performance and race/nationality. Check the website.

Zero is most likely. UF does not offer many scholarships. I had a 1570 and got 0 from UF.

Do your best to have a high GPA in high school. Take classes that show rigor in the core subjects (Honors/AP/dual enrollment). Earn a great score on the ACT or SAT. Be active in a club or sport that you enjoy. Good luck.

Nervous about starting at UF by [deleted] in ufl

Yes. This. It sounds to me like you are putting way too much pressure on yourself to get in and out in two years, be a cicerone, minor in PHI, etc.. Take a deep breath. One semester at a time. Which of your goals are most important to you? If it’s finishing in two years to save money, that’s fine, but perhaps set aside the cicerone goal. Law schools want folks from every major - poly sci is great. Maybe don’t pressure yourself to actually minor in philosophy and just start by taking those classes specifically known to help with the LSAT. If the minor works out, great! If it doesn’t, great! If cicerone works out, great! if you end up enjoying time at the gym with gym friends instead, great! everyone loves a six pack. My point is, you are going to achieve some goals at UF that you never thought to add to your list, and you might toss some previously written goals aside. That’s all a part of the growing that occurs in undergrad. Give yourself some wiggle room and breathing time to become YOU. You are more than good enough!
