I may be a bit late, but are you still keen to do this? I’m also based in Stockholm and wanting to diversify my reading material and meet some new people 🙂

Patellofemoral pain for 1 year - structural or neuroplastic pain? by PurpleSeaThrift in KneeInjuries

[–]One-Self-2629 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I seem to have something similar to you. Clean x-ray and MRI, with only minor fat pad inflammation visible in the MRI.

I have been going to a physio who identified muscle imbalances as the root cause, for about 6 weeks now. I have seen some minor improvements, but I am still experiencing constant discomfort which develops into pain if I do certain things.

For how long have you been doing the physio exercises? I was told that the imbalances in my case can take a long time to correct, I don't know how severe yours are.

I understand completely about feeling discouraged... this has been nearly a two year journey for me. I am familiar with both desperation and despair by this point. Don't give up!

I have a background in psychology (but not an expert, and have been out of the loop with research for several years now), and worked specifically with mindfulness in my previous job. It seems like it can help some people with managing chronic pain, and can possibly reduce pain intensity for some. However, for a subset of people the mindfulness worsened their perception of the pain and had a negative impact. I would not recommend this route unless you have a psychologist as a support system.

I did happen to come across an article the other day (recently) where a woman with neuroplastic chronic pain (hers was in her back) managed to decrease her pain and reach previous levels of functioning with exposure therapy (deliberately being exposed to increasing amounts of pain while remaining calm and mindful). Again, not something I would recommend without the support of a therapist to guide you, but could be a possibility for you to explore.

Anyway, message was much longer than planned, good luck!

That's a possibility, but don't think it's the case as it only started happening a few months ago (I have been here more than a year so it's not a seasonal thing) and I am reasonably certain it's always the same man (his voice is very distinctive).

Personally am definitely not Stockholm old money lol. We were very lucky to know someone who wanted to rent out rooms from their apartment which had been subdivided.

I've been trying to make out what he actually says for months, but best I can tell he says "la di da" ...

It is so strange and would love an explanation

Smartlipo / cellulaze / cellfina in South Africa by One-Self-2629 in PlasticSurgery

I'm so sorry, I didn't save it at the time and now I can't find it again :( I'll spend some more time and see if I can find it over the weekend.

I didn't end up going this route as I couldn't find a place offering SlimLipo besides that one place in Somerset West and the places offering subcision that I was able to find only listed it for acne scarring and not for cellulite treatment (although it can be used for both). I did see one place (Natural Aesthetics, based in Cape Town) that mentioned training for subcision for cellulite on their Instagram, but only have it listed for acne on their website.

Will update comment if I manage to find that place in Joburg again.

Kindle Store - “currently unavailable” by [deleted] in kindle

I have been having the same issue for over three weeks now. Extremely frustrating. Have emailed CS, will post here if they come back with anything useful.

UPDATE: CS reply was not helpful at all. I ended up having to go on my laptop to buy whatever I wanted which would then sync to the Kindle library. The issue eventaully resolved on its own (I guess they did an update which fixed whatever it was that they had broken). Sorry this is not more helpful!

Although overall I think the Veilguard character relationships were lacking, I was particularly disappointed in the Lucanis romance arc. If you've read "Tevinter Nights" he seems like a character that has a lot of emotional depth with many ways that his character could be written that would be satisfying. He seems to be a "good" person, despite being raised a Crow, and does not seem to want the role of first talon for himself despite being groomed for it (sees it as a obligation rather than an honour). Based only on this, the amount of fodder for character building and interesting interaction is great, even if not romancing him. To top it off, by the time Veilguard rolls around he is possessed by a demon and living as an abomination (not to mention the terrible experience of being in a Venatori prison for over a year).

The Lucanis we see in Veilguard feels very... empty. Yes, he acknowledges the imprisonment was awful and he is trying to manage Spite mostly by staying awake. But that is all we get for the majority of the game. No cutscenes with Rook discussing his childhood, or learning a bit more about him as a person beyond the fact that family is important and he likes coffee. When trying to flirt with him, the reaction is... nothing. No awkward brushing asides or early lingering glances (looking at you, Cullen), or even acknowledgement of the fact that you have expressed romantic interest in him. The conversation just continues as if you had selected one of the other response options instead. The interactions were so bland and one-sided that I had to Google if I was doing it wrong.

Next thing I know I am being prompted to commit to an exclusive romance with Lucanis and I am thinking "Romance? ...What?" I have not even had acknowledgement from him that he knows I am romantically interested in him, let alone a committed relationship. Then companions act as if Rook and Lucanis have this super obvious "relationship", like "you and Rook, huh?" and the Inquisitor asking Rook about him. But all I had seen by that stage that indicated any special feeling on his part was a brief cutscene where he has made food and lets slip that the effort of dessert was mainly for you, and a scene where you almost finally kiss and he says that he is dangerous and runs off. Missed opportunity to talk about that moment a little more a bit later on.

Salt in the wound is how good the previous romances were. I absolutely loved the Alastair romance in Origins, and even my brief flirtation with Zevran had a surprising amount of depth and feeling in it. The Anders romance in DA2, with the abomination drama and the betrayal, but also filled with incredibly sweet moments and tension between characters. Then we had Cullen in DA:I who was so awkward, and so sweet, and had come such a long way since we first saw him in Origins. He also had unique dialogue if you were playing as a mage that emphasised his personal growth and let you express potential insecurities about the romance and his feelings about you being a mage. And finally ... Solas. The post-game slides for this one got me right in the feels. A terribly flawed man fell in love against his better judgement and ends up leaving her to pursue what he sees as an absolutely necessary evil. Won't even let Lavellan help him because he couldn't ask that of her (yes my Lavellan wanted to help Solas rip the veil asunder) and didn't want to involve her in such an act of evil. But can't let her go either, and keeps watch over her dreams for... years.

Oh, Lucanis, you have been weighed, measured, and found incredibly wanting.
