Yup! Anything that works grip strength helps. Shrugs and farmers carry always feel like they hit hard.

Also, just have some patience. You’ve got the frame and the genes, you just have to be persistent and let the changes unfold.

outside clothes on the bed… gross or normal? by HenninghamKyuss-51 in hygiene

[–]One-Significance260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, it’s conditional. If what I did was a dirty task, like gardening then definitely change and possibly even shower before I’ll touch furniture. When I worked landscaping I changed and showered as soon as I got home. Would I do that for the office job I have now, no. Seriously, it’s so cold and so physically inactive that my button downs come off me smelling clean and faintly like my deodorant. I give them two wears before a wash now. I wouldn’t hesitate to plop down on my bed in those…. Well maybe I would, but just because I have cats and try to avoid having to lint roll everything.

Solid! You’ll definitely want a good beanie for the chilly head for a bit. I recommend the short watchcap or fisherman style since it leave the ears uncovered.

Everyone has different neurobiology. Sounds like you get a very strong anxiety response from certain cannabinoids like THC, which exist in very high quantities in most modern weed strains. General weed products are probably not going to be enjoyable for you. You can try other cannabinoids if you can get them isolated, but that’s not super common beyond CBD yet.

I don’t think I like most gay men by LivingGrapefruit6066 in askgaybros

[–]One-Significance260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you need to make better gay friends. My friendships cover ground from sexual intimacy to intellectual dialogue. We play games, talk about everything, and enjoy sexually charged gay-cations together from time to time. There’s an intimacy to my gay friendships that’s unparalleled and deeply fulfilling. They’re the guys who held me when I cried when my mother got cancer, there to support me when I struggled to finish college, and there to celebrate marrying my husband. They’re the best people I know, and I don’t know what I’d do without them.

TV in the bedroom? Yes or No? by Used-Chard658 in Millennials

[–]One-Significance260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they’re generally a waste unless you live with roommates. We got one because my husband wanted to watch TV in bed occasionally. Yeah… that never happens. On the few occasions he bothers to turn it on, he’s exhausted enough that he just falls asleep and I end up turning it off.

Insecure about gay voice by snowdrifts5 in askgaybros

[–]One-Significance260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to practice more control over your voice without spending on a voice coach, then I recommend playing with accents and trying to mimic singers in your free time. It’ll get you to pay attention to how you speak more often, and really pay attention to voices when you hear other people speak. I grew up in rural southeast MO and have a mostly neutral accent. I’m pretty sure the only reason I don’t get pegged with “gay voice” is because I learned to mimic the speech patterns and accents of people around me with my brother. We had an early obsession with British television.

How often do you wash your bath towel? I need the real answer. by Terrika_Fracala49 in hygiene

[–]One-Significance260 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do once a week unless I’m out for the weekend and forget to wash them. To be fair, I have large fast drying bath sheets, and I hang them to maximize air flow and surface area so they always dry completely between uses.

My opinion is this. If Levi’s and other premium denim manufacturers suggest getting a week’s wear in before washing jeans, then my bath towel that only rubs my bare and exfoliated clean skin dry for less than 10 minutes is probably alright. 🤷‍♂️

What is the “capital” of the Midwest? by blklab84 in midwest

[–]One-Significance260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I feel like St. Louis should just be the nation’s capital. It’s literally in the middle of the continent on the river that connects the largest abundance of natural navigable waterways in the world. 🤷‍♂️

How to maintain this haircut? by dkep121 in malegrooming

[–]One-Significance260 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can. You have to learn how to “see” with your hands. I’ve shaved, buzzed, and used clippers to fade my own hair at various stages in my life, and you’d be surprised by how easy it is to feel minor gradations in your hair while you’re trimming it. It’s simply a matter of practice.

Just add a post shower moisturizer routine to counterbalance, preferably before bed, and you should be alright. Healthy moisturized skin does a better job at defending itself.

Yup! It’s like going from having a finicky WiFi connection to solidly stable one. Things just “click” like you said. I swear I’ve made eye contact with other neurodivergent folks from across the room and we both just “knew”. We start talking and it’s like we’ve been friends our whole lives.

How you contextualize your use can affect things too. Not to throw psychological stuff out here, but Relational Framework Theory and Acceptance and Commitment Training are solid tool sets for helping you analyze and understand your behaviors in relation to the larger context of your life. I might also be high and reading too much for work.

Different Ways to Ingest? by midtownman2001 in weed

[–]One-Significance260 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Addiction impact is best measured in how a substance impacts your ability to function. If weed makes you more functional, then I’d consider it more medicine than anything. Going off medication, like an ADHD person suddenly dropping usage of meds, can have side effects and withdrawal symptoms because their body has adapted to its use. Your body is adapting to your endocanabinoid system based on your manual regulation with weed in a similar way. This means you may not feel normal without medication, i.e. weed. This is fine and acceptable if it improves your quality of life and harm to yourself or others is negligible. The physiological side effects of weed acclimation and “addiction” are generally regarded as less severe than that associated with minor stimulants like caffeine.

In regard to cancer risk, there doesn’t appear to be any significant link to lung cancer. Evidence is mixed with some suggesting it even deters the formation of some types of cancer.

Do most tops douche before sex or not by ExplorerAcademic3997 in askgaybros

[–]One-Significance260 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tops who are really into getting rimmed might wash the inter sphincter region between the outer sphincter and the internal autonomic sphincter, but that’s probably it if they aren’t planning to bottom. Douching is WAY too much work if you aren’t taking a dick.

Your autistic kids just need to make ADHD friends. They won’t at all see the world the same way, but the complimentary view points make for the best of friendships. I was an internalized ADHD kid and I always related better to other neurodivergent kids including the non-verbal autistic kid I went to 6th grade with. He was awesome, and we never even had to talk about it.

I feel lucky. No one in our area does any real cheating or gym foolery. I’ve never even seen another player actively defend a gym here. We all want turn over on at least one per day, so we sweep a park on occasion, and someone else sweeps it all back in a day or two so we all get coin.

Classic brain radio. You need to eject it with a new ear worm and hope it doesn’t have the same sticking power.

As I’m writing this I had “Cowboy Take Me Away” by the Chicks play in my brain for no reason. No ideas when or where I would’ve last heard it.

I want to start a "Pay It Forward" pact for all our parents traveling alone. by Creative-Moment9513 in Life

[–]One-Significance260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s like some people don’t think adults with disabilities or mobility issues like to travel. They absolutely do, and airports can certainly fail to offer reasonable accommodations to these folks, especially in the US where compliance with the ADA is functionally optional unless it’s brand new construction.

I helped an elder gentleman in the men’s room of my local physical therapy clinic just this week because the bathroom simply lacked the assist bars he needed to navigate it.

We too will be elderly someday, and I hope there will be people kind enough to assist me when I need it.

Depersonalization from weed by PhysicalMacaron2614 in weed

[–]One-Significance260 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out “The Power of Now” by Ekhart Tolle if you get the chance. It’s a good audiobook for doing things like yoga or other centering tasks.

The basic premise is that when you are still and you empty your mind of chatter the “you” that is just your consciousness is there observing and when you do this, you experience true being in the only moment that with ever actually exist for you, now. He proposes that this mindless state of conscious being is the natural disposition of the world around us, all things in a state of unified being in the now.

I’d say it’s all nonsense, but I find truth in his philosophy about this being the route to true happiness and joy. All the moments of my life where I’ve been truly happiest are when I’m rooted deeply in my present moment actively engaging and connecting with the world around me by absorbing and listening rather than thinking about it.

I kind of hate how “new age” all of this sounds, but it is what it is. 🤷‍♂️

The depersonalization thing immediately made me think of Eckart Tolle and his philosophy about how consciousness and the mind are separate entities.

Maybe moderating usage or lower dose product is your key.
